2020 Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Okay...can’t say I’m a fan of this decision. Curious why it was made.

Everyone in the league is getting new city uniforms. According, to Evan from a source the Cavs will have a "rock theme" uniform.

I’m not sure about the Bulls taking Ball. They drafted Coby White, signed Tomas Satoransky, and still have Kris Dunn. White may not be a pure point guard, but he was drafted to play the position. Let’s not forget they also have Zach LaVine.

Avidja may appeal to them as he can play some point forward, Otto Porter is entering the last year of his contract, and Karnisovas has a history of taking foreign players
Just saw a mock draft by NBC that had Ball available at 3,,mock trade to the knicks for 8/27/Knox and Brazdeikis.

Charlotte wants Wiseman and is more likely to move up than down. The Knicks would have to offer up Mitchell Robinson to get the Hornets to bite & I doubt that’s happening. My top 8 looks like this:

1) Hornets (from Wolves)- Wiseman
2) Warriors- Edwards
3) Wolves (from Hornets)- Toppin
4) Bulls- Avidja
5) Knicks (from Cavs)- Ball
6) Hawks- Vassell
7) Pistons- Hayes
8) Cavs- Okoro, Okongwu, or Williams (Cavs pick up Dallas’ 2021 1st for moving back 3 picks)

Whether intentional or not (he & his family clearly want the Knicks), Ball has been doing poorly in interviews and his stock seems to be slipping.

Hearing stuff like this scares me. The trade for Drummond was one thing because we hardly gave up anything for him. If we start trading away our top young talent and/or draft picks, in an effort to short-circuit the rebuild, then that’s a mistake. Panic moves usually happen when people are fearing for their jobs.

It's Gilbert that's rushing the front office to produce. He wants to prove to the world that the team can make the playoffs without Lebron and you can't rush the process...You're entering year 3 of a rebuild yet you're telling Altman you want the team to compete for the playoffs. It makes no sense at all..

I feel like the Cavs are in a better situation when Lebron left the first time but Gilbert needs to allow the young players to develop and not try to rush the process.

The Cavs just need to draft well, develop their players, have consistency at the coaching/GM positions and everything will fall in place with winning...

The last time Gilbert tried to speed up the rebuild, we signed Jack, Clark, and Bynum and drafted Anthony Bennett.......

Oh cant wait for this go around

Bad moves those were but they were all free agent signings using a ton of cap space after we struck out on preferred FA options. They didn’t trade away any of the young pieces or picks we had already established.

This time we don’t have cap space, but we do have the expiring deals of Drummond and Exum coupled with other teams that are either trying to avoid the tax or position for 2021 FA

Just because Dan asked Koby to pursue more win now options with the trade of Drummond and Exum, does not mean he told him or authorized him to give up on our young guys or picks for the Bynums, Jacks and Earl Clarks of the world.

Until I see it actually happen I have no paranoia or fear that we’ll be trading away promising young guys or valuable picks for middling vets.

Teams seldom trade away young impact players in the NBA. If they will give him to you, they have probably decided he is nothing special. You become good by drafting young talent and developing them. Draft a future all star or two the next couple of years and the winning will follow.

Drummond is only 27 and just entering his prime. Drummond should help the team win now, without sacrificing the future. It's not as if the Cavs gave up any young players for Drummond, or have any young centers waiting in the wings.

The acquisition of Drummond is not inconsistent with winning now, nor is it inconsistent with the Cavs developing their own homegrown talent. The Cavs can continue to develop Sexton, KPJ, Garland, Windler, Osmand and this years #5 pick.
