Why start start Bieber tonight? Not sure what the shuffling accomplishes.

They want him lined up for game one of the playoffs.

Santana is seeing the ball in this AB from the left side.. he tried to ambush the first pitch... worked the count.. then a sweet early swing on a ball he barreled foul to the RF stands..then a protect swing on a fly ball to left center.. the other way.. not pulled..

That was a quality at bat.. We'll see if he can get one to drop in during his next AB...

All but one pitch has been a heater. Hes throwing downhill very well so far, and the Chisox aren't waiting around.

wildcard round in both leagues start 9/30.. thats six days from tomorrow.. this will give the Indians the chance to rest all the regulars.. and put Bieber, Plesac and Cookie on 6 days rest before the start of the playoffs.. This is a cautious/good plan..

Yes.. everything is on a downhill plane.. he's going to become an extreme ground ball pitcher if he continues to work at it..

I have been hearing that unlike prior post-seasons there are not scheduled off-days during the rounds this year....

So the idea of reducing rotation length to 4 or even 3 guys might not be feasible if you get beyond the opening round..
