2021 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It will be interesting to see how the FO assigns the young starters to begin next year.

Mejia, Hentges, and Elder Allen are out of consideration as starters, because they are out of options.

Stephan, Moss, Morgan, and Morris are already in MLB or Columbus....room for one more in Columbus as things stand now.

Pilkington and Battenfield have spent an entire season in AA. One of them will probably have to remain there. Scott has spent two years in Akron. Younger Allen is now in Akron. Gaddis, Burns, Curry and Espino are in A+, with room for only one to move up.

And then there are Cantillo, Vargas, and Hankins, who have to be put somewhere.

Attrition will change this...and a question remains if Scott will survive the Rule Five.

But in any case, its hard to envision an org with more depth of pitching behind its MLB rotation

Benson is hitting around .180 in august and is 6-30 most recently. Makes no sense to promote him.

It may be because he is Rule 5 eligible in 22... I think they may want to see how he responds to the promotion...

I'd rather see Kwan up first but I am guessing the potential with the Rule eligibility, they really want to see him above his current ability level and see how he reacts. That's my only guess...

Palacios went on the IL and they need to push Benson to see if he's legit enough to keep around.

The at-bats are there for him, zero reason not to push.
What happened to Palacios? He’s one of my favorite under the radar prospects.

Though Kwan probably "deserved" the promotion, it does make sense to send up Benson.

Bubble Rule 5 guys
S.Kwan - having an excellent season.. Missing a month stalled him severely. If he finishes strong, gotta roster him or he is gone.
J.Tena - growing into a lock
W.Benson - is his toolbox good enough to ride the bench as a sub?
A.Scott - lefty starter
O.Gonzalez - roster him or likely lose him
A.Pinto - won't be rostered but could be selected

I know I am missing some, feel free to add away

Also I said it before and I will say it again. On the surface it appears there has been a monumental improvement in the hitting/batting instruction this season in Akron. Well done.

That... ain't a good look. But if I'm not mistaken, the city of Akron owns that stadium so someone might want to go to city hall on that one. But still, that's disgusting.

Hopefully that means there are now open OF at-bats in AA for Valera

Anyone know what is up with Carson Tucker? Did I miss it? He has only played 7 games in the ACL this year the last one on 7/9/21.
