He's making 5.4m now. He won't be after arbitration. The team would be idiotic not to deal him in the offseason when his value is highest, especially with the next Manny Machado (Arias) and the next Lindor (Rocchio) waiting. If the team can get either a needed bat or players who don't need to be 40 manned for Amed they need to strike.The idea is to have an improved team next year, not continue to reload.
The FO is not trading Jose, Amed, Franmil, Straw. Forget about it.
Amed is a 3 WAR player who plays in the middle of the defense. He is well worth $4.5 mil...and no set up man, unless he is the reincarnation of prime Andrew Miller, is worth Amed. Besides, an Andrew Miller type gets paid at least twice what Amed will get.
