2021 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Duarte was my 4th rated guy (out of 4 guys on that list) if we were to trade up to the teens. So, I think we agree.
Fair enough! I should've referred back to your list.

If they end up coming away with Mobley, and plan to bring back Allen, I don't care how they do it, but they need to come away with an additional shooter in the draft and an additional shooter via free agency -- hopefully one on the wing and one at point..

With the amount of relatively good shooters there are in this draft, I'm hoping they can come away with a Miles McBride, Jared Butler or Moses Moody (ideally) but would settle for Ayayi, Grimes, Preston, Ayo, Kessler Edwards as a shot in the 2nd...

With Wagner's reported growth spurt (Kevin O'Connor says he's reportedly up to 6'11"), I continue to think a Allen-Mobley-Wagner-Okoro-Garland has a realllllly interesting vibe to it with their defensive ability and ability to pass/put the ball on the floor offensively...

Best comp coming out of college for Mobley?

I am not saying this for hope, but I see Anthony Davis. The size, athletic, handles and passing for a big. AD was a better shot blocker, actually insane shot blocker in college, but coming out Mobley is the better shooter. AD was a bit shorter, but had a bit of longer arms, so standing reach should be about the same, but really no data on that.

I am not saying Mobley becomes as good as Davis, but he has that type of potential.
Bol Bol?

Carter and Goga were both 40% 3-point shooters, and I didn't necessarily expect them to keep that up in the NBA, but I figured they'd at least be respectable. No such luck.

Yeah, it is pretty interesting in all honesty. This just seems to sniff out all types of guys.

Like JJJ.....did anyone reliably think he wasn't a potentially great big man shooter? This actually thought he was a regression candidate.

Not a huge one......but I would imagine someone would have called you an idiot (given his volume) if a few years ago you were like "Man, I don't know if JJJ is actually that good of a shooter. Like 40% good." I think last I looked JJJ was a 36-37% shooter.

That is why this was so interesting to me......was that it was equally good at both identifying those big men who could improve and those who could slide. Even in JJJ's case, if it was down a notch or two.

Amazing stuff IWD, great work with this. I don’t think Mobley needs to be an elite shooting big to be an elite offensive player. If he can hit in the upper 30s on open catch and shoot opportunities and use it as a threat to open up his dribble drive game, then that’s all he really needs. I also think he’s got a ton of potential as a mid range shooter, no? I remember seeing somewhere that he was in the ballpark of 50% on mid range Js last year.

I get that it can predict regression...but can it somehow predict how much regression? Petrusev, Garza, and Hurt were all mid-40's 3-point shooters last year, and surely they won't be *that* good in the NBA. But there's a big difference between slight regression (~40% 3-point shooting, still elite for a PF/C) and major regression (~30% 3-point shooting, barely-capable floor spacer).

Fun for those of us who want the Lakers to lose, that is. Lol.

Oh I want Lakers to lose. Not sure how often I'll tune in though. Should be a good laugh when I do. Their spacing is going to be so bad.

TRADE: The Cleveland Cavaliers are acquiring Minnesota Timberwolves G Ricky Rubio, a 2022 second-round pick and cash for F Taurean Prince, sources tell ESPN.
