2021 NBA PLAYOFFS MEGA THREAD

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Watching Golden State fans complain about the game being rigged/officiating being lopsided is comedy gold.

Someone else said it, but last night reminded me how much I hate Draymond Green.

Man, I love Draymond. He got the better of his matchup with AD for 3 quarters until the Refs made him played afraid, and he took all the heat off his teammates and allowed them to play free.

I think he's one of the best team leaders in basketball. Real throwback to 90's kind of intangible guy. Love him.

They really are. That Bane kid should be playing tight end in the NFL and he's out there fighting Melton and Allen for best guard off the bench and all 3 are capable. Scoonie Penn is doing an excellent job developing their young guards.

Potapenko over there on the bench turning JV into Jamaal Magloire and shit.

Really stable and well run organization down there after firing Wallace, Hollinger and JBB :chuckle: .

Their top 3 basketball guys are on their 3rd year on the job: Zach Kleiman (POBO), Rich Cho (VPOBO) and Tayshaun Prince (VPOB Affairs)
I love Bane and it's incredible that we didn't see this coming.

Now, he might just have a role player ceiling, but there are a ton of good teams that could have had him in their rotation this year.

It's tough for me to hate Draymond now that he's not standing in our way of a title.

I think he spoke without having all the information regarding Drummond earlier in the season, and it's not the first time he's done something like that, but for the most part, he's a coach's dream.

I love listening to him talk basketball.

He was the only guy on that team who gave the Cavs their due in 2016 without whining about it afterwards.

Really no idea how it wasn’t called a flagrant foul. It was as textbook as it gets. Two hands to LeBron’s face with no attempt on the ball. Do that to golden boy Curry and you’re gonna get ejected. But you need to hit LeBron over the head with a baseball bat before the refs consider giving you a flagrant foul.

"Sexton Rules"
They were too scared, after already giving Draymond one tech, to give him another and eject him (as they should). Then it would have been another "No Draymond" excuse from people who forget they had 3 chances to win one game.

Game was good but man was that 2nd half brutal by GS. So many lazy TOs. Steph is so fucking good. LeBron is better. AD seems like a shell of his former self.

He'll look a lot different next round without Draymond defending him (and clawing the shit out of him :chuckle: )

It's a pain to see Lakers fans succeed.

If I can ignore that... it was very refreshing to see LeBron hit the shot as Curry attempted to play defense, and give LeBron that "you motherfucker" stare that so many players give to him.

Actually I saw Draymond go up to Lebron after the game and apologize for the eye poke. It obviously wasn't on purpose. I also love the respect Lebron and Curry have for eachother, it was very obvious after the game.

Sorry but that is completely wrong. If you want to go with AD is a softie who doesn't like playing the 5 and yes there you go. But once you move AD to the 5 not even Draymond can stop the Lakers and AD. Draymond can totally take away his post game but AD is one of the best big man I've ever seen on the move when the Lakers go five out and he can just slice thru the lane. Nobody has figured out how to stop it.

AD is a strange player to evaluate: at his best he looks like an all time big man. HIs defensive ability is Hakeem like with his ability to rotate and rim protect. with spacing he's just too fast for other bigs and can shoot over smaller guys. OTOH he doesn't handle double teams and while he's got the handle of a former PG he's not a great passer. Yet with that being said other then Embiid I don't think any big man in the NBA would be favored in a one on one matchup with him

Agreed. Draymond was an excellent target for our vitrol during our title runs. From the outside looking in now, the guy is a basketball savant. He plays both the physical and mental elements of the game to perfection, and is the true definition of "a star in his role."

His defensive performance yesterday was just sublime. Honestly, feels like the Warriors would be a decent matchup for the Lakers in a 7-game series. Curry can go off at any moment, LeBron can hit the dagger whenever he pleases (ala yesterday) and AD and Draymond going at it is a ton of fun to watch.

A lot of good "role players" doing what needs to be done on either side of the ball for both teams, too.

I also enjoyed Steve Kerr's timeout commentary. Chooses his words wisely and knows a) when to push his players' buttons and b) when to empower them and fill them with aplomb.

Was a great game -- hope to see more of it if they meet again.

One more point about Memphis...

I would kill to steal Brandon Clarke from them. Somehow he's fallen out of favor with Taylor Jenkins (probably just a numbers thing while integrating JJJ back). He was their best reserve last year and I cant believe they have DNPCD'd him alot recently.

You could play him at either 3 or 4, he's going to turn 24 during next season. He's got 2 years left on his rookie deal and I believe he'll be a RFA next summer so they may look to move him before then. JJJ's best friend Tillman is playing and being prioritized over Clarke.

I would register my interest with Memphis as soon as their season is over and keep checking in with them leading into the draft.

I've got a list of current young players who I'd like to target once we know who we're drafting and he's up there for me
I’ve been wanting Clarke before draft night - I was hoping to trade up to draft him. Watched so much of Gonzaga when Hachimura was there and he’d be a perfect fit to our team. Personally I like what Memphis is building especially with JJJ, Tillman, and Bane too.
