2021 Trade Ideas and Deadline talk!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Ken Rosenthal reported today that if the Diamondbacks were to decide to trade Ketel Marte, the main pieces they would want in return would either be in the majors or close to major league ready. With that being the case, who says no to the deal below. Keep in mind, I would expect the Indians to then make a separate trade netting them a starting pitcher.

I hate to say it because I really like Freeman... But remove Clement/Rocchio and sub Tyler in... They may start listening... Opens the door for Miller/Palacios to duke it out over 2nd base as well.

Netting another SP is a HUGE sticking point. You can't trade Plesac without replacing him.

What's the incentive to trade Plesac? We've traded an entire rotation of starters within the last 3 years, and it doesn't feel like we have starters to spare.....

Is it because of the incident last summer? The finger injury and the backstory on that?

Took a peek at the Diamonds starting rotation... nothing there fits as well.

It sounds like Plesac hasn't done himself favors in the clubhouse and likely will get traded at some point...Though I expect it when he is due arbitration but if we can get Marte back for him, I wouldn't be against doing the move now...

We aren't trading Tyler Freeman...

I am not against the Idea, I just like Clement personally... If we can get Marte, I think we should even if it has Plesac (though I like the Alek Thomas kid, what was his rating at on the trade thing....)

Marte doesn't seem like as much of a value play for us as trading for a cheap SP. I think with us being such a fringy playoff team we need to think in terms of small risks, larger gains, and not trading away the farm for someone in a position of organizational strength for us.

Marte can play 2B/SS and CF, so he can fit a bunch of spots, plus he is a proven bat... I wanna take pressure off of JRam honestly

I never thought I'd say this. But I wouldn't mind getting Plutko back. Innings eater.

I'm glad you said this. Am little sick and tired if the trade Plesac stuff. If we want 26 Mother Theresa's on this team count me out. He's done damn good for an 11th round draft pick.

ditto - and he makes 590g - if we have a strong organization and a strong clubhouse we can put up with a couple or three (talented) goof balls

Define goofball..

My guess is they don't like his attitude and his behavior could damage the team's rep. Also maybe they're concerned with MLB suspending him for being a "goofball"..

He is a perfect sell "high" guy if you ask me.. If he can be a key piece in a mega deal - I'm definitely listening.

Good question. What is the incentive/return? Cant' say, don't know, but willing to listen.

I don't feel the need for a bunch of "Mother Theresas" as someone else mentioned, but throwing a childish tantrum, breaking your finger, and putting your team in a difficult predicament doesn't sit well with me. I don't dislike or hate Plesac, but if the return/incentive could help this team going forward then I'm all ears. I'm not interested in trading him just to get rid of him and I highly doubt anyone else is either.

The incident last summer is kind of in the same line of thinking, and I didn't and don't agree with all the BS rules and regulations surrounding covid. Point being is that he knew the rules and decided to break them with no thought/consideration towards the team.

I'm with you.

The organization has made it clear that you have to fit a certain profile in order to be a part of this success within our financial restrictions.

Clevinger wasn't that, and neither is Plesac. It doesn't mean he's a bad pitcher-- just that he's not a piece we view as a core part of this team.
