2022 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I agree, but the Astros aren't scoring any more than we are, so they must not have a lot more power than we do.

We have the opposite type of scoring, but honestly they have a much better lineup.

Hmmm

The idea is to score runs one way or another. It doesn't matter how.

If team A doesn't score more than team B, it doesnt have a much better lineup.

The point is that Houston has one of the best teams in baseball and does it with a defensive minded catcher who can handle a pitching staff, but can't hit worth crap. To say that we, or any other team, can't contend...and even win...with Hedges flies in the face of facts.

The question with Hedges isn't his bat, its his concussions.

Coach..

we're in the minor league thread.. and you two bozos decide to hijack the conversation....

Put an end to this nonsense..

Yeah you can def survive with an automatic out, but it leaves much less room for error with other bats if you want to be real contender.

We are a real contender.

Do you consider Houston a real contender?
StLouis?
Tampa?
The Mets?

How about last year?

Were the Braves a real contender?
The Padres?
Red Sox?
Astros?
Mets?
Cards?

Check out their fWARs and wRC+s.

There were folks on here that wouldn't have traded Palacios for Happ in the off season, because Palacios was a prospect who had never played in MLB.

Of course, now that he has played in Cleveland, his estimated value in some of their eyes has automatically dropped.

Anybody still unwilling to trade Richie for Happ?

And we were debating if we should bring up Naylor or not instead of Leon... isn't that minor league?

True we did get off the rails a tad bit, but not a lot.

Lol….…..I was surprised that Palacios was put on the 40 , let along keep from trading him.

Well what's your take... Should Naylor have gotten the call up over trading for Leon?
I've advocated from around November that the catching situation is dire.. even mentioned the advent of Hedgie biting down on a freshly pour bowl of Capt'n Crunch and going into a concussive haze leaving the cupboard bare.. The time for the acquisition of a MLB player who plays catcher remains.. The Guardians don't have any at the moment.. stop gap or otherwise..

There are three teams that have three catchers on their active rosters.. call them....

..and I don't care about what might happen with our prospects who might be closer to being major league players who catch next year..

I think we all wanted to get another C but any trade right now hasn't been cost efficient for a ball club that does everything based off of cost efficiency.

Contreras is too high cost wise and womt resign within reason (more than likely) Murphy doesn't hit, Kelly hasn't been good. Stassi is no longer available.

Jansen is about maybe our only true target... he still isn't cheap though and he's been hurt.

So we have to look at guys who haven't played in the bigs yet plus don't know anything about the staff either. Nothing is in our favor right now acquiring a C...

Palacios is fine as a hitter, but we have a lot of LH more contact, OBP types. He is expendable just we aren't going to throw him away. A lot of teams would have taken him in the Rule 5. Actually most would have...

I’m glad we protected him, I didn’t know he was that value by us, but Poster said people didn’t want to trade him for Happ in the off-season, when everyone knew we had no corner outfielder at the time, not sure how true that was……

Some of us were high on him and he was about 15ish on my top prospects list.
