2022 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why all the retroactive moaning about Ian Happ? The whole theory of trading for him started with reuniting with Valaika to see what he could unlock. That reality is lost in space and time now so there's absolutely no value in hindsight analysis. Who knows if he would have been worth it? We'll never know...

Also what in the world does he have to do with Guardians minor leagues?

It's called the thread went off course and didn't get redirected in time...

FWIW I have the latest on topic post ITT. Anyone wants to bring it back on track, just have to weigh in on the other stud pitchers from 21 draft.

As it relates to the debate, I hibernate during the winter so wasn’t involved in this Happ debate. So as an unbiased third party observer I must say 44 took 45’s lunch money. Came through w the old posts and quotes. Yikes.

Very nice. However - Micah Pries is in my top 30, and would think he deserves to be in most top 30 lists as well.

Micah Pries was named Eastern League Player of the Week for Week 13, June 28-July 3. Pries is the first player or pitcher in the Eastern League to earn back-to-back Player of the Week honors.
Pries recorded a hit in each game of the series in Erie going 10-for-20 with two doubles, three home runs and six RBI against the SeaWolves.

I don't think he gets even close to the top 30 yet... he doesn't have much of a track record nor good at defense, but for sure he is saying, I deserve to be recognized as one and I am proving why...

They have a pitcher we just DFA'd at 20....

Pries has 2 seasons in MILB and has OPS'd north of 1.000 for over a month in AA. The previous month (May) was .861. Great platoon splits, too bad he hits left handed though.

May = .861
June = 1.083
July = 1.101 - SSS be damned!

Should be slotting into that 25-30 range IMO. I'd certainly take him over Myers, Tucker, Greene {maybe not Greene) for starters.

I don't see any place even ranking him yet... though he is proving things right now, it's too soon to put him up that high in my mind... But if you want to put him on your list, then go for it.

Come the end of July, our list will be way different anyways between the draft and some of the international prospects getting added

Was real excited to see logan allen. He got rocked

A 24 year old mainly 1B in AA is typically going to have to put up absurd stats to make any sort of prospect list.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Morris fall all the way back to the late 20s.

His injury history...TJS-lat-shoulder...is extensive, and will probably move him from SP to RP.

He threw 89 IP in 2019...61 in 2021...and probably won't throw many this year again. He will be 26 next year and would take two seasons to work himself into a MLB SP load...by which time he would be down to his last option and passed by a boat load of younger pitchers.

Bums me out so hard but so it goes with pitchers and especially his past before joining the organization. Why he bums me out I thought his stuff in watching milb.tv games looked so electric and a safe bet to translate to the the majors. Here's hoping we get a chance to see it.

We do need bullpen arms, so it wouldn't surprise me if he is one...

If he can hit 99 out of the pen with his stuff, he may end up being more important for us out of the pen anyways. We have too many starters, so some may end up in the pen out of necessity...

Working Cody out of the pen is certainly an option and his stuff should play well there. I think CATS point about him needing 2 yrs to get to a full season workload is fair. The only question I have is how much he's pitched in the offseason and what his entire workload has been? I hate to give up on him as a SP because his ceiling is high, but the injuries are a concern. So there you go Coach, there's another good arm for the pen that you desire.
