2022 Minor League Week 02 Games Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Joe Naranjo with a pretty strong start to the year.

6 XBH already, including three homers.

Curious how real the org thinks he is, still very young and firmly planted in the 3-spot at Lake County.

Arrow pointing upward.

Contrary to a post made in response to this from earlier, I’ve always been a big proponent that organizations show fans exactly how they feel about certain prospects out in the open.

There is a reason he skipped a full season level altogether, there is a reason he was the youngest player in his league last year, and there is a reason the organization chose to give him that challenge.

And it isn’t because they lack at 1B prospects in the lower levels. And that feeling certainly didn’t go away after 1 season.

He’s still growing into his body, but he is every bit of a solid 200 lbs, has a really smooth lefty swing that makes a long trip through the hitting zone, a good feel for the strike zone, is a terrific athlete for a 1B only, and plays a good 1B (covers a lot of ground, soft hands, and a strong throwing arm).

You don’t become a depth piece after 1 season coming off a missed year due to Covid while being assigned aggressively as a teenager after only playing 50 professional games.

A lot of fans of his bat in the organization. Now his age group has caught up to his league assignment, so time to produce before the next step up.

Very little chance of a brand new white baseball getting a green grass stain with that Columbus outfield...
