2022 Minor League Week 07 Games Thread (5/17-5/22/22)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
@BimboColesHair
You know I have been on these boards regularly for the past few years..

Us fans talking about it and it actually happening are 2 different things....
I am for the versatility & I felt Noel played too much at 3B this year.

If he continues to rotate between 1B-RF-DH, I would be ok with the plan...

I’ve talked about him getting OF reps this season for the last 7 months. And that an NL team was going to Rule 5 him and DH him this year while developing him into an OFer.

I know you’ve been here more than 7 months, but him getting OF reps shouldn’t have surprised anyone here.

Oh boy as JR once said, business is picking up!!

For whats its worth, Jhonkensey just went yard (#10 on the season) putting 2 more runs on the board for the Captains tonight...

@Real Deal
I got over to see a Lake County double header a few weeks ago.

Weather permitting I am heading to Akron to see the Ducks play on Thursday night 5/26...
Haven't determined yet which game I am heading to see in Columbus but it will likely be once Arias & Jones are back & playing..

Well the Saturday games are done for the CLE affiliates and again it was good results for the group. They go 2-2 with a run diff of +4.
On the week the CLE affiliates are now 14-6 with a run diff of +31

Will Brennan anybody?

Got a chance to watch him in person last year and I came away saying he picks the ball up good, better than most at his level

Who cares how the national pundits rank our prospects because they don't know shit. All you have to do is look at Miller's history and his current MLB performance. They have similar hit tools, but Miller has always had more power. I think Freeman is a very good hitter, but he's not moving Miller off of anything.

I'm not worried about trading Bieber yet. When we have another #1 then we can talk.
Bieber s not siging with this ream after his arb years run out. That's pretty much the way it is. You've said it yourself many times, this team is loaded with top the rotation pitchers that will be ready no later than 2024. This team needs a power hitting oufielder and a huge upgrade at catcher if they have any inclination of competing soon. Bieber could solve at least one of these black holes. They have many other chips to barter with as well. As for your comment about not giving a shit about what others think, I agree. They get it wrong quite often. But in Freeman's case, he has alwats put up impressive numbers and I don't see this team not giving him an opportunity sooner than later, and don't care that he is obviously rusty so far this season.

I've said that Bieber is not signing an extension with Cleveland as well, but he's not a FA until 2025. This coming offseason is the soonest they'll consider moving him IMO, and likely not even then. I would certainly think that trading him would fill a hole or 3, but there are plenty of other assets more readily available to get a corner OFer with Freeman being one of them. IMO, Baltimore should already be calling about Freeman and there could be a deal for Hays as they have Henderson and Stowers moving through their system rapidly.

I agree that an upgrade at C is needed, but I happen to think the answer for that is in house already and that there are 2 options looking good right now.

Remember this so that you can rub it in my face should I be wrong. Tyler Freeman will be lucky to still be in this organization when the 23 season gets started. He's a helluva nice prospect and it looks like the offensive prowess he does have could transfer to MLB. The problem is that I think they like all of Gimenez, Miller, Rocchio, Tena, and Martinez as much or better than Freeman.

I believe of the group you mentioned, Tena would be the first to go... Also I think Freeman will get reps at 2B and possibly 1B and maybe LF just to get his versatility up within the organization. Less than 15% of the time he BBs or SOs so 85% of the time he puts the ball in play. Thats really unheard of in this era of baseball...

This is why this team needs to make a blockbuster trade to shore up their line up of banjo hitters. Bieber was offered a boatload and he turned it down. The team could pry loose a blue chip primo catcher for him.

How about this. Bieber, Rosario, Miller and either Cavale or Plesac for Cedrick Mullins and Adley Rutschman, the number 1 overall pick last year? All Star catcher, all star right fielder, a perrenial MP candidate at third and a rotation that will not suffer one bit. As for Miller, one way or another, I believe second base has Tyler Freeman's name written all over it.
I don't think the Os are dealing Rutschman, especially not for a rental of Bieber. For whatever reason the Os operate on a sliver of a budget too.

Tena might be the first to go, but that will only be due to the other team requesting him ahead of Freeman.

You think Freeman will get reps at 1B and maybe LF too? Clearly you and I aren't going to agree on something so ridiculous.

Freeman is as good as gone. He's too good of a hitter for other teams not to be interested in him. The fact that we already have several guys with his offensive profile makes him expendable.

Watching Allen's replay from last night. He gave up 4 runs in 3rd but a bit bad luck and not super sharp. He had 6 inn 9 hits, 4 ER, 1 BB and 9 ks

He had first guy 1-2 and ended up walking him
He had next guy line out to LF
He had a slow grounder to rocchio that went for a hit that could have been a double play if not for long grass
Had another guy down 0-2 who lined to left field
Two other hits were soft flairs to left field and right field

Yet, he seemed to be upstairs a lot on FB CBs

He also gave up triple in 1st that was hard hit to OF but should have been single or double but hit crack of ballpen door that did a bad bounce

As long as Freeman is in the Cleveland organization, they will find a way to get him on the field regardless of position. He is likely a 2B that can fill in elsewhere, but with our 2B/SS/3B crew, filling him in the OF and 1B on paper makes some sense. I don't see him playing 3B much because he isn't supposed to have a strong arm.

Now, that being said, I can see both ways with Freeman, I think his bat is legit, and we should keep him since he should be a solid pro. That being stated, he has a very good chance of being a big leaguer so his value in a trade is very good as well...

What can we get for him and Tena plus a SP prospect? I would think we could get a missing piece so I'd like to keep him, but if we get that all-star RF for him, then I am okay with that as well...
