2022 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Also the Sexton to SAC talk is silly…why would they trade out of #4 (to avoid taking yet another combo guard) for yet another combo guard — 1 year after trading Halliburton?! The only way it’s feasible is if they’re complete morons - which I guess is not totally out of the question.

It would likely be to get off a contract. Maybe Holmes?

I don't think there's much difference between 5 and 14 in this draft....so if they don't view a clear cut guy like Ivey as the pick at #4......I can see them taking picks and a younger vet.

I assume they'll take Ivey......but I do think there are scenarios where they trade the pick.

For the life of me I cannot figure out why Eason is not considered in the 2nd tier of prospects in this draft.

Prototypical wing size, good functional athleticism, elite defender, highly productive offensive player who demonstrated the ability to both shoot and create off the dribble at a respectable level, draws a bunch of fouls and converts FTs.

Only real downsides are his age (just turned 21), relatively high foul rate, and he's a bit of a black hole on offense.

What am I missing? Does he have some major personality red flags or something?

Measurement comparison:

Scottie Barnes:

Height w/ shoes: 6'8"
Weight: 225
Wingspan: 7' 2.75"
Reach: 9'0"

Tari Eason:

Height w/shoes: 6'8"
Weight: 217
Wingspan: 7'2"
Reach: 8' 11/5"

Eason's measurements are pretty elite for a wing.

There are just so few guys at that 6'8 Height / 7'0 Wing / 215 LBS in the anthro.

Hoping there's some way we can manuever to get him.

I’m telling y’all…there is no way we take a traditional C with our pick, CHA knows this hence they will wait and take their big at 15
And there is no way CHA can guarantee the Cavs are the team picking at 14

IF Mark Williams is there top guy on their board at 13, they don’t get cute and potentially lose him.

I’ve seen several questions about his long term prospects in a half court offense and I suppose some people could see him as 21 year old prospect and downgrade him slightly in the way that many of the older 21 and 22 year olds get downgraded. Don’t think he has the playmaking skills or vision of a Barnes either.

I noticed his hands are some times pretty butterfingery too.

This is just me trying to think of reasons that he isn’t currently seen in any mocks as a top10 guy, not my own personal view of him.

Maybe I am insane but relative to his size and profile, I would take Williams at #13 if Daniels & Eason are both gone.

He'd provide another body to protect Mobley and let him soak up even more minutes at the 4.

Also, while not being on top of my wishlist (except Mathurin), the SG prospects in our range all measured pretty well.

Still can't believe Daniels measurements.

Almost always a let down when you see "X player has grown....". Kind of crazy those rumors were true this time.

He has such amazing size relative to his guard skillset.

Daniels and Eason just have me salivating positionally.

So much you could do with both players, given the rest of our roster.

Seems like such a stretch either are there at #14.....but it helps there aren't any clear measurement losers so far, that would drop out of the top 15-18 prospects and push players up.

Yeah he measurments are working for me. Still want Eason badly, but most of these guys are 6'5" + so somebody with decent size is falling to us.

I'm really impressed at the measurements, seems like everyone is coming in taller/longer than listed?

Unfortunately Daniels seems like such a dead ringer for the Spurs pick. Eason I still have hope for, just because of age and wildness.

But we could easily trade back and Mark Williams will be a sought after talent by mid to late teams looking for a big. They’ll take Williams at 13.

There just no way the Cavs can justify taking a backup 5 with potentially their last shot at the lottery for many years with the holes we have on the wing. We have an all star center locked up for 5 years at a great value contract that will eat at least 35 minutes a night.

I could see maybe taking a prospect like Williams if you have the 25th pick and they inexplicably drop…but Jarrett Allen is not even 25 years old.

As much as I like Williams as a prospect, that would be an extremely poor decision by the Cavs and it’s one I don’t even believe is in the cards.

I think the Cavs should do whatever they can in their power outside of trading future firsts to lock down Tari Eason. If trade Okoro if it meant jumping up for Eason. Though if Eason goes before us it likely means someone else potentially juicy is dropping. I’ve seen a ton of talk about Griffin or Mathurian dropping out of the top 10. Those dudes can flat out play. The Cavs are going to get a solid wing player no matter what IMO.
