2023-24 Season | Game #3 | Pacers @ Cavs | Oct. 28, 2023

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Some were claiming last night the Cabs would get torched tonight before we found out Don was even out...

The crowd who want the Cavaliers to fail this year so they are proven correct that JBB should have been fired.

I just want to see my team play well and win. Latter tough at the moment with players out but the team fought hard and I’m proud of the effort.

Players shouldn't take shots they aren't good at making.

That's what practice is for.

Lol. Caris isn't good and is amazing at every shot he takes. Depends on which Caris we get. Practice has nothing to do with in-game. We've seen Simmons make 10 3s in a row in practice.

Edit - Okay, obviously practice has something to do with in-game. But it doesn't always translate. And in-game is much more stressful. Okoro even became a decent 3 point shooter. but much like Evan, he needs to take them.

He's not really going for offensive rebounds anyway.
He still gets them, and put backs, but more importantly, none of the defenders even have to worry about getting a body on him when he's out there so it impacts the team's ability to rebound. It's just not a good idea.

I'm not saying he needs to camp at the three point line, lmao. Take two to three 3s a game. Especially when Allen is back.

Right on...

I wouldn't mind just trading Levert tomorrow, just so the league knows he can play. Again, it's not Levert, it's the fit.

It's not a good fit here, and when Mitchell and Garland are back, he's going to be inconsistent, because the role he plays with them isn't for him.

Caris was good early on, but basically wasn't enough to seal the deal in 2nd half. He still has the best eyes for a big running with him on the team, might be going back to his Brooklyn days. Strangely enough I felt there was slightly more space going on with him being the primary ball handler.

Mobley was poopin early on, but great in 2nd half. IMO I think he did a good job on Turner (I'm gonna hate on every 3 point shooting big not named Jokic from here on out. that dude is a chump, and was getting owned by both TT and Mobley)

Finally saw Niang get a 3.

Okoro was dragging the team out of a hole.

Strus continues to impress. 20/10/5 last I checked. 10 rebounds. On a team without JA.

The offense still has major spots of ass. I still hate the places where Mobley gets the ball. Especially late in the game. Gotta draw up something better, but that's where my JBB skepticism goes into overdrive.

Hate watching this team be ass on perimeter D, esp. late in games.

Surprised that TT actually had some decent minutes.

Nesmith did the most damage to the Cavs, he reminded me of Cam Thomas.

I appreciated some of the effort tonight but honestly, this team is neither constructed nor coached to play top-flight NBA basketball in 2023. The continual unwillingness and inability to defend the three-point shot indicates a strategy that has not worked in pro ball for at least fifteen years and maybe not even then.

I actually think some of the non-fat players possess the ability to contest threes. They are just not trained to do so, either as individuals or as a team. It is a steady embarassment that is not dependent on injuries. The team competed well enough tonight and scored more on offense than we probably all expected, but on the other end of the floor, they gave away open threes once again at nearly a 40% clip. As expected and frustrating again.

The coach is the issue. Same issues as last year.

I can’t tell you a game he won for the team. But we can all names numerous instances where he isn’t helping the team

What people don't appreciate is that you're not going to change how you're defended taking only 2-3 attempts per game. The opposing team will let Evan have those shots.

So let him make them pay. If someone is playing off Mobley, Mitchell or Garland can drive and kick. That's the point. Lol. And eventually when it improves, people will start respecting it. The whole point of Evan even being a 4 while we have Allen is we need someone to stretch the floor at the four or Garland, Mitchell, whoever aren't just driving into the paint where Mobley, Allen, their defenders and their own defenders are clogging it up. That's why the offense often looks awkward AF in the first place.
