2023-24 Season | Game #6 | Cavs @ Pacers | Nov. 3, 2023 | 7:00 p.m.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Vert has transformed his three point shooting over the past year and a half. Shot 39% on four and a half attempts per game last year, shooting 42% on 8 per game this year. Apparently some people have not updated their perception of his skills.

If this was March and Vert has sustained a year of 38% shooting again, maybe.

No evidence that supports Vert as being a clutch/automatic 3 point shooter when it matters at the very end.

I’m going Mitchell, Garland, and Strus before Vert every time.

After a fine overall game, Mobley's turnover on the break was also key, because Cavs were almost guaranteed to take the lead there...with Garland TO, two steals lead to two TOs when down one point. Game.
A good coach uses one of his two timeouts in that two-turnover sequence. Defense worked hard for stops too.

Roll out the barrel!
We'll have a barrel of fun!
Roll out the barrel!
We've got the blues on the run!

Guys, Garland and Mitchell, got to play better in crucial possessions. That, and mainly JBB, is why we lost.

JBB is the biggest culprit. Just fire him tomorrow, seriously. Our season is at risk!

Garland had 14 points, 6 assists, 4 TOs, 0 rebounds, and was -10.

But the same two guys are blaming Mobley. As they do nightly.

Note, only one of these players is being paid a max contract.

Probably have to wait till the offseason for that to happen

If this season is a write-off, I'd rather bring in a coach now who can get the shit habits out. Otherwise you go into next season with a new coach and need half of a season to adjust to that. If the coach we want is out there, they should be taken asap.

Strus hasn’t proven anything in the clutch 3 department, like ever. Garland is playing shitty off an injury and was 0-2 from 3 tonight. Mitchell I’ll give you for sure but they would have absolutely blanketed him - super expected play. Vert was a perfectly reasonable choice for that shot. By JBB’s usual standard of ATO plays that was an awesome call

Guards threw that game away again without poise. The too hard pass from Mobley too

AT least it was a good decision though. lol. I didn't like it. My problem with Garland, his turnovers, often are just TERRIBLE decisions. Like a careless pass across the floor. That's just a recipe for a turnover. That's such a LOW IQ decision.

This is why I'm not a big Garland fan. I just don't think he has a high basketball IQ TBH.

Give it a rest, man. On a team with Mitchell, Garland, and even Strus - Caris is a distant fourth option there.

It’s on the coach for not drawing something up to get the ball to his best player(s).

Caris is one of our best three point shooters. This is like totally obvious which is why I’m mystified I have to repeat it. Mitchell is more clutch but would be the expected play, Garland at his best is better but is playing shitty off an injury.

Difference in my logic is simple. This is Garlands first game back from an injury. Mobley, more often than not, disappoints. Garland is an all star who typically plays well..sometimes he plays exceptional. Ask any league exec who they would choose between Mobley vs Garland.

'Damn well' my ass. Your standards are shit. Mobley..in crunch time...got stuffed like a turkey by the same guy that gave him 30 points ( on multiple 3's)...not to mention his late game turnover. No way in fuck can you say he played well after that. FOH
Uh huh.

You must be watching the game on dial up with a blindfold on, the interior of which likely has some variant of the words, "Evan Mobley". Words you can't see, but feel against closed eyelids.

Look, I dunno. Maybe the fabric of the blindfold is jutting out a bit, the threads scrapping against your face which causes all kinds of annoyance. I get that. That one's on you though.

Yeah, the lead pass (which would have led to a dunk) was off and the two point attempt didn't yield points or free throws, but he helped changed the game around completely and led this comeback in the third quarter to even make this a possession game in the first place. I think there's room for criticism, for sure, but these takes can be solved by taking off the blinders or maybe sewing some new words into it. Hell, maybe even upgrade from dial up.

It was Garland’s first game since he got back from his injury so I give him a bit of slack. When Donovan is cooking, I tend to see a bit passive Garland. Garland was a bit aggressive when Donovan was out for a breather in the second half and Garland got some key jumpers and made a nice cut to the basket with the pass by Mobley. Garland got instantly screwed over and over defensively when Indiana just tried to get Garland on Halliburton. But we didn’t adjust. We never tried double teaming him afterwards.

It is going to be a tough 4 game stretch now with GS, OKC on road, GS again, SAC.

JBB keeps saying we need to play with effort but if we are going to run, we can’t have 8 players playing all the minutes. It’s going to be like last season again. Nothing changes…
