Whether its next month, Aug 1st, or next opening day, we will have a new SS/2B...from one of Arias, Freeman, or Rocchio.

Only one of them can play, but hey, at least we didn't trade any of them for a position of need. Meanwhile, their option clocks will continue to tick. Both Martinez and Tena are losing value by the day. But we did add Brito. And their option clocks are ticking, too.

Prospects, like Tena and Palacios, were too valuable to trade last year for upgrades, but now are at the top of the list to be cut from the 40 man. Prospects, like Jones and Vargas, were too valuable to trade two years ago, but were moved from the 40 man...not for upgrades, but for prospects even farther down the line.

But lets trade for even more prospects.

Its true that young talent is the life blood of this org, but only if used to make the team better, and that theory is only accurate if they ARE used to make the team better. The only way to maximize that is to trade the excess for real MLB upgrades.

Unless the FO is willing to do that, the org will merely continue to spin its wheels in perennial years of tryouts, while most of the prospects die on the vine.

The argument that the FO has TRIED to trade prospects for upgrades, but came up short, is hocum. They just weren't willing to do what was necessary.

Vince Lombardi's famous quote that 'Winning isn't everything, its the only thing' was said in a fit of rage after a loss. What he actually preached was that 'winning isn't everything, but doing the things necessary to win is.'

This FO hasn't been willing to do the things necessary to win. Its afraid to strike out, but you can't hit a home run, unless you swing the bat, and swinging the bat means taking a chance on striking out.

When the FO has been willing to swing the bat by trading prospects, it has hit a home run both times...in the Miller and Hand trades. Both were labeled as 'over pays'. In reality, both ended up being steals.

I'd say the person who read humor and understood it has a pretty good sense of humor.

The person who read humor, didn't understand it, and posted it twice on the same forum is the one who lacks a sense of humor.

But it's probably best to not make this about who has or lacks a sense of humor. You got taken for a ride. Just own it, laugh about it and move on.

I don't get why you don't understand they tried to make trades and it didn't work since somehow the A's took a lesser deal in talent for Murphy...

I dont understand why so many on here keep making excuses for the FO stunning failure to improve this team, esp when it has so many resources to do so.

'We tried' doesn't cut it. Trying without succeeding is failure.

The FO should be held to the same standard as the players.

Zimmer tried. Bradley tried. Plesac tries.

Some on this board complain that Dolan doesn't spend money that he doesn't have, but seem perfectly fine when the FO refuses to spend assets it does have...and then shrug when those assets turn to dust a year later.

Our FO is well known to be the most difficult to deal with in MLB. Thats not a badge of honor.

The lack of gratitude coming from the fans is just shameful.

We saw this in the Browns section and now here.

Regardless of the history or current product on the field — you better be grateful and spend your hard money earned on it.

Blind faith and putting your fandom before everything else is required. Don’t be afraid — let pro sports dictate your emotions and how you treat your loved ones.
