Emphasis on power, generating XBH in relation to how the offense would be different. I took it as a license to hunt (Brantley transformation is a good example). I thought it was a poor one for this group in general. What was the message?

You're right. Gimenez is the best SS of the bunch. Arias and Rocchio would also be very good.IMO, it's actually Gimenez that should be our SS of the future, although Arias is looking like an option too. Good luck convincing me though that we'd better off with Rocchio or Freeman at SS and Gimenez at 2B than vice versa.
Thankfully due to Amed he's been playing 2B and probably getting rusty at SS/3B. As a result even if Amed goes, we're probably better off keeping Gimenez at 2B for the rest of the year (even if it means putting Rocchio or Freeman at SS) and making the transition in the offseason. Another reason why Amed playing SS has just not been good for us.
I don't think Rocchio or Freeman are good enough at SS to justify it just because Gimenez has been good at 2B. I'd hate to get stuck into a Rocchio SS / Gimenez 2B situation until 2028 just because "Gimenez has already been there for X years", then for 5-6 consecutive seasons we end up with an inferior defense rather than just going through the growing pains for a short bit of time. You're right. I just tend to think Andres is locked in. Like, it would've been optimal to have Jose play 2B, but we ended up sticking him at 3B. Andres will have played 2B at a gold glove level for nearly two years after this season. They probably just leave him there.
I'm not sure why you're low on Rocchio. He's a hell of a shortstop and definitely isn't in a similar tier to Freeman.I don't think Rocchio or Freeman are good enough at SS to justify it just because Gimenez has been good at 2B. Gimenez is no Amed. He's on contract for a while, so the change should be made sooner rather than later if we decide that Rocchio/Freeman are the answer to the remaining MIF piece. Otherwise, Arias would be the SS while Gimenez plays 2B.
Gilligan got them shipwrecked.Tito and Jose like him. He's Gilligan to the Skipper.
We'll see about that...I'm not sure why you're low on Rocchio. He's a hell of a shortstop and definitely isn't in a similar tier to Freeman.
The only reason to shift Andres off second is if Freeman wins the job next to him. If you have a good SS like Arias or Rocchio, then just enjoy the elite MIF duo. The tiny bit of min/maxing isn't worth shaking a human being's confidence. Eliminate the bad variables when you can.
Hell, with the shift eliminated, and all the left-handed pull hitters, you might have to be a better fielder at second anyways.
We'll see about that...
What do you call a MLB shortstop who has trouble making throws? The only thing stopping Rocchio is, he doesn't have the strongest arm in the world, otherwise he has been a MLB shortstop for awhile defensively.

Answer: an MLB second baseman
Again I'm not really getting in the business of predicting here. I do think if he gets action this year it'll be more at SS but if we decide he's our guy he and Gimenez should swap places in the offseason unless some drastic improvements happen. We shall see, but he's going to get a shot at SS in due time.
The more 99 struggles, the more I get the sense that he will be one of the 2 guys sent down to AAA once Civake & TMac return to MLB action.
Cal Q to the bullpen & Gaddis to the bullpen/ back to the minors.
Logan T Allen & Tanner Bibee have pitched well enough to remain in the big leagues at this point..
Have to disagree. One of Allen/Bibee will end up at Columbus when those two are back and healthy.
Just like how Bibee wasn't getting called up because he was behind so many others in the sportscoach pecking order?Quantrill isn't going to the bullpen...
