MT88 - Thanks for clarifying it (knew the intricacy but too late at night after long weekend to get into the specifics - was trying the cliff note version and failed).
Here was FG post-Rule 5 notes
Nic Enright, SIRP, from the Cleveland Guardians
The Marlins add a low-variance bullpen contributor in Enright, whose low-90s fastball tends to sneak past hitters at the letters because of its angle. Enright’s tall-and-fall style delivery and overhand arm action help his slider stay hidden on release, as the pitch doesn’t pop out of his hand. He’s a low leverage relief option who might move into a more significant role if his fastball velocity can continue to climb.
From Miami Herald -
Enright, 25, was the Guardians’ 20th-round pick in the 2019 MLB Draft out of Virginia Tech and finished the 2022 season with Cleveland’s Triple A affiliate, the Columbus Clippers. In 37 innings over 29 appearances with the Clippers, Enright posted a 2.68 ERA with 50 strikeouts against just six walks while holding opponents to a .216 batting average.
He is a fastball-slider pitcher. His fastball while only having a velocity in the low-90s has “some of the best carry in the minors, which makes it a bat-misser that he can dot the zone with,” according to Baseball America. As for his slider, it “generates plenty of swings and misses as well, and serves as an excellent chase pitch when he gets ahead in counts.”

As for how likely he is to move from waivers. It is mid-season where some of the bottom-11 teams are building for next year (like Wash when they choose Call from us in the DFA process). Yet, this is harder as Enright is still recovering a bit from stage 2 Hodgkin's lymphoma. His rehab results have been impressive - 1.06 Whip in 16 innings (16 hits, 1 walk and 18 Ks. But, ERA has not been the best at 3.94 with .244 BAA. He was built up to 3 innings of work an outing but then was going 1-1.1 innings the last 2 outings to be able to go every other night vs a few days rest.
It looks like he was trying to add a few pitches to the "FB/Slider" combo like a change-up and curve. His FB/Cutter the last go around was 89.5 average (so down from last year if proper gun). And, going back to prior week, his FB only (no extra cutter computer guess) was 91 which is his average per BA 90-91 and peaked 93 vs 94 last year. Yet, the game in-between and the same gun as the last outing (with low reading) recorded 91.3 average topping out at 93.5. So, my theory is the 1-day rest got to him and thus down on velocity but part of his pen build-up process.
Last few outting, he was trying to locate his FB as he was leaving it out over the plate. In the last 2 outtings, the FB location was more around the edges. His slider down and away to first base side and working on a change-up to 3rd base side with possibly a few curveballs thrown in. His slider still may need work as it was mainly down and out of the zone in his 3rd last outing (and not generating much swings out of the zone). He has been going away from it to get his Change and FB to work. Thus, is this slider the last piece to be ready for MLB or did he already have it in side session thus put it in his back pocket for now? If we look at his 4th last outing, his slider was actually nailing just outside the bottom corner of zone (I mean computer was mean and gave him nothing touching that line vs a human ump he would have fared better). Thus, if he got his slider working where he could hit that corner (didn't miss by much) and the tighter one with more bite to get people to chase, he is getting close to 100%. ready. I would think a team like Washington or Oakland may throw out a flyer and take him and see if this "week" DFA process and bullpen sessions is enough to get him to where he can be an effective 8th man to eat 2 innings or so and rise through the ranks given more opportunities to recover. Yet, most definitely, Guardians would be stupid not to offer $50,000 to get him back from Miami and be a depth reliever piece (off 40 man) that we lack in AAA with Miko/Misa injuries and K Kelly also being selected.
