2024 Cleveland Browns Off-Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We won't agree then.

I didn't really see the Texans sustain drives, I saw Slowik cash in on a handful of long plays that, to his credit, he knew would play against the Browns tendencies. If the unquestionably depleted offense could control the game even slightly, the third quarter is completely different.

But, neither of our opinions are changing anything, so enjoy your evening. I'm moving on. The past month was all found money in my book.

When you're ripping off 10 yards per play and can score in 4 plays from 75 yards away, the need to "sustain drives" is pretty meaningless and irrelevant.

The Browns came into this game well rested and pretty much healthy defensively outside of Delpit (who they were winning without for the last month anyway) and just got absolutely destroyed schematically from the opening series on.

I just don't know how you fix the team problems except for the obvious upgrade areas like LB and WR. Everyone gets hurt. Do we focus more on depth?

I think you got to look into finding more playable depth. Like guys that you might actually rotate in during a game to give different looks. We have seen Stefanski do it with RBs and TEs. We have yet to see it with WRs.

We really didn't have any outside screen game this year. I think that's because the types of players we had at WR and RB. We need to find some shifty players to round out this roster on offense. Being able to execute and lean on different aspects of offense can help alleviate health issues with the team.

We couldn't run block with our hurt o-line but we didn't have any shifty enough to run any outside screens or anything that would be extension of the run game.

Give me a shifty WR, a shifty RB, and a playable TE better than Akins then I think won't become one dimensional when injuries hit.

"Coaching wasn't the problem"

*Proceedes to immediately praise the opposing coach for outscheming our coaches*
I think it’s more this.

Hard to fault Stefanski or the offensive staff for anything in this game given the context of the season as a whole and the actual game today itself

With Schwartz, you can certainly declare that he was out coached or exploited or any number of things and be right but the defense he helped build overall was great this season and while it need to get better, getting rid of him is certainly not something to do based on this game(which you did not say, just making larger point)

A few 2024 roster items.

I do not want to get rid of Hickman based on this game. Due to multiple injuries a UDFA had to be a starter and overall(though against mostly poor qbs) did admirable given his experience level, until today.

I would definitely bring him back as S4 behind Delpit, Thornhill, and MacLeod who I think should all be back. Let him develop more via experience, continuity and growth. Of course be open to someone beating him in camp for the 4th S position, but I wouldn’t throw him off the roster because of today.

With the DE position, I think Wright, who we knew was developmental, made some strides and regardless of what else we do, he should def be back and I expect even bigger things from him.

Absolutely want to bring Hurst back. Think Elliot improved but wouldn’t give him big money so only bs k in a one year deal or not at all depending on how the draft goes.

There are certain things that you just can't plan for.

A lot of NFL teams don't have 2 good offensive tackles. Basically none of them have 4 good offensive tackles.

At one point tonight, the Browns quite literally had their 6th and 7th offensive tackles of the season in the game. There's no possible way to address that with depth. The players simply don't exist.

Only losing 5 games in the regular season playing like this is pretty impressive

I don't pin much blame on Stefanski or the offensive staff or the offensive game plan or any of that. The two tackles were both extremely bad tonight, worse than they had been at any point in the previous 4-5 weeks.

Combine that with Flacco's lack of mobility and you end up with a bunch of sacks and a bunch of pressures, one of which led directly to the first pick 6 that ultimately killed the Browns chances of a comeback in the game.

Combine that with the fact that Cooper was also obviously limited (not sure if he tweaked the heel on that first catch on the first TD drive or what) and ultimately this is what you get.

But even with all that, had the Browns defense played up to their capabilities, I think the Browns could have still won the game.

I still do not understand, and someone needs to help me understand this more. The Browns gave up over 30 points five times on the road this season. They gave up 13.8 points at home versus 31.3 points on the road. How is this possible? To be this good at home and this bad, which I believe is the worst on the road... This and also leading the NFL in turnovers cannot happen next year...

We played a lot of bad, backup, or injured QBs with our home schedule. It was just the luck of the draw.

Ford and Moore will be here for sure.

If contracts don't matter, then why don't the Browns just buy up all the best players in free agency?
Don’t be an idiot. I mean, one contract, maybe 2, they can kick down the road for years and years. Restructuring is a normal thing. If big QB contracts were an issue with salary caps, they wouldn’t happen or the caps would be higher.
