Do Not Sell My Personal Information
doesn't change trading Civale..

Hentges isn't a starter..

Morgan can be... but he's more of a piggy back/multi-inning bullpen guy...

the guy(s) who replace Civale would not be unproven...

If you haven't had a full season/a certain number of big league innings you are unproven

I'm sorry, but Willson Contreras is making more sense for this club with every passing moment. How would his 279/393/524/917 change the dynamics of this lineup. I wouldn't even give a shit which of Hedges or Maile they decided to keep.

Can you merit giving up 2-3 of our top 10 prospects to get him when we have no chance to resign him?

If we could extend him for a season or two, I would make the move, but i don't see how he won't get 4 years in free agency...

@Gson does Eder, who hasn't pitched since Tommy John and won't pitch in the bigs until next season cause of it, really a proven, when a proven player has a certain amount of time or innings in the bigs...

They aren't going to get 2-3 top 10 prospects from anybody coach and if he can or can't be extended is unknown. With Blitzer officially becoming a minority owner then maybe it's a possibility.

Well that's the asking price at the moment, so don't be surprised if Cubs get something close to that from a larger market team who wants to resign him...

Where did you get "that's the asking price at the moment"? A Cubs fan?

If you go by BTV, that's his value there... Secondly the catching market is very limited especially those who can hit and play at least a decent defense. If you want a catcher, you will have to overpay and I don't see Cleveland willing to compete for him. It's the same reason why we lost getting Olson

According to BTV....

Contreras is worth Quantrill, Plesac, and Allen.

Why anybody looks at that sight for anything besides yucks is beyond me.

I don't agree with all the numbers they put up at the end of the day, so you have to take stuff into context as well. I think it's liked because it just a quick and easy site to post ideas and see what people think lol

Civale is the same as Contreras and I don't think Quantrill nor Plesac should be any lower than Civale...

A full game up on the Twins now. With this team's recent play, CA and MC have to be considering adding to this team. Don't get me wrong, a lot can change by the end of September, but damn if it wouldn't be hard not to go for it this season.

Wait until Karinchak and Vargas get added to what is already a fantastic BP. Sandlin and Castro are the weak links at the moment with Sandlin already being sent down. I'd guess Castro is just a place holder for now.

Just get us Contreras, get Franmil on track and ride this mfer to the post season.

Hmmmmm. I might be convinced to give up any 2 prospects not named Naylor, Espino or Williams for Contreras right now. The Cubs also have a couple bully arms that could help, the mentioned Scott Effross for example..

The cost will be high but someone will pay it... We might be the best fit... Maybe the Cubs would enjoy sticking it to the southsiders, IDK.

Including a 3rd team might help as well. Either way, I'm not budging on Naylor, Espino, Williams or Valera for a rental. I'm not moving on any well thought of SP prospects for Contreras unless there is an agreed upon extension. I wouldn't be left empty handed when the 23 season rolls around.

That's a tall order.

Though I am unsure of what the price will be, there is no notion of a fair price here. It's pure market price and will likely be what many refer to as an "overpay". Forget about trading for Contreras otherwise.

He's cooled off a bit recently too, see how he's cranking in 2-3 weeks.

I'm also not trading Espino for anything, Williams would have to be an insane deal. Bo Naylor seems destined to play with his brother so I don't see him getting moved. Everyone else? Let's talk.

Here is a deal proposal.... Will Brennan, Jose Tena and Tanner Burns for Contreras. Not enough? Too Much (probably)? IDK.

I'm sure it is, but that's the only way it works for me. If dealing some of its most cherished players/prospects this organization should make no high profile moves unless it for the foreseeable future IMO. Otherwise just go with what they've got.

I agree that the market will help determine how expensive Contreras will be, but prospects are more valuable than they've ever been IMO so we'll see what the market brings. It's difficult to even contemplate without knowing what Chicago is looking for in return.
