22 GM Thread!!!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That puts us back in 22... If I was the Phillies I would laugh at that deal... I think it would be Bohm for a couple prospects...

You know Jansen is hurt right now right? Though at the same time, I can understand going after Jansen over Murphy cause of the costs
Yeah I know, but it's minor and shouldn't keep him out that long. I think Jansen is as good defensively as Murphy, or close to it and might have a better bat. Factor the perceived cost and I'd much rather pursue Jansen.

You might want to consider what the failed Matt Olson trade had..
that was Freeman, jones, tena, burns & Hickman.. young controllable talent and each with multiple yrs before arbitration..

I find it doubtful Gimenez & Josh Naylor would interest the A’s..

Via BTV, that would get us to 50 value which is short for Murphy (hes overvalued at 65), but a trade I wouldn't be against doing for Murphy in a sense. From the A's perspective with the Cs they have, I wouldn't be against that if I was running them. The question is, if the A's asked for more, then can we do it? My answer would be no... That would be a max offer in my mind.

If you compare the two, Jansen is in arbitration and has one less year of control. Murphy has way more power in his bat, and hasn't had as many injuries as Jansen. That is why their is a big value difference between the two guys...

Murphy does not have "way more power in his bat" than Jansen. Again, they are very similar.

Its significantly different... Murphy will get you around 40 extra base hits in a full season... Jansen will get you in the 20s... Murphy has more power in general... look at the numbers.

I'd prefer to do something like this:

He's a nice SP prospect with intangibles. He does a pretty good job of throwing strikes too.

I did and they aren't that much different at all. Murphy hit 17 HR in almost 400 AB while Jansen hit 13 in under 200. The difference is minimal and certainly does not explain the difference in value on the BTV site.

I'm looking at total Extra base hits... the 13 was in 384 ABs... the 11 was in the 184, but that hasn't been his norm...

As GM, we've made our decisions after lots of input, and Im sticking to the plan...unless a huge upgrade falls into my lap without having to decimate my present roster.

I am not...repeat...not trading any of my front line pitchers or players for future considerations.

Whatever the plan may be Rosario isn't in it for the long term and Gimenez doesn't need to be either if he's the short side of a platoon. If the trends continue, and there's no reason to think that they won't then we need to be done with Mercado, Chang, Bradley, and Hedges too. Give the majority of 1B duties to Naylor. Promote Arias to SS. Move Miller to 2B. Use Rosario or Gimenez and some prospects to bring in a f'ing C that can hit and suffice behind the plate. Have Maile, Clement, and another bat on the bench. Don't touch the rotation or the BP just yet unless you can extract some value from Allen and/or Morgan. If it were me, in about a month or less it would look like this:
C- Kelly
1B- Naylor
2B- Miller
3B- JRam
SS- Arias
LF- Kwan
CF- Straw
RF- OGon
DH- Reyes
Bench- Maile, Clement, and maybe someone like Fry

Rotation- Bieber, Plesac, Quantrill, Civale, McKenzie
BP- Clase, Gose, Hentges, Stephans, Sandlin, Shaw, Castro and Morgan

That's 26. I'd offer Freeman and a SP prospect not named Espino, Williams, Battenfield, or Allen to the DBacks for Kelly. It's a bit of an overpay, but I'd gladly do it. If they can use Amed or Gimenez to get Kelly then even better. When an OFer needs a day off then Naylor can go out in the grass, Miller to 1B, and Clement to 2B. Ride this mother to a WC birth and see what happens.

Agree with most of this approach.. some of the names will change to satisfy the needs of the trade partner.. It's not unusual to exempt currently rostered players.. again.. it depends on the trade partner..

Whatever happens, should Arias and OGon continue with what they've been doing for over a year now then it's time to see what they can do. I'd rather they get exposed this season than next. Even with reasonable regression they'd bring an element to our lineup that's missing. Arias is 3 times the defensive SS that Rosario is as well.

Whatever names change is fine with me as long as Espino, Valera, Williams, Rocchio, Arias, LT Allen and Battenfield are excluded. That leaves a lot of quality prospects on the table. I'd be very aggressive in my pursuit of Kelly at this point. He's not a FA until 2025 and would probably be an easy extension candidate if you buy out his remaining arb yrs. He's 27 yrs old and in each of the 2 seasons he had 300 or more AB, he performed very well and would be a huge boost to our lineup. He's also solid defensively.

If Kelly can't be pried away from Arizona, then I'd call Detroit who has SP dropping like flies and try to get Haase back.

Bryantb92 at BTV posted an interesting deal that might work for Detroit, Philadelphia and the Guards..

The posted deal has the Guards receiving Alex Bohm and Hans Crouse for Amed Rosario. Adding the Tigers and a couple more names to the posting to get:

Phillies get Rosario [19.1] and Faedo [0.7] 19.8 in / 20.8 out
Tigers get Crouse [4.9] 4.9 in / 4.9 out
Guardians get Bohm [15.9] and Haase [4.2] 20.1 in / 19.1 out

So, if you're the Phillies: Do you want to dump Bohm to let Stott play while getting Rosario?
...... if you're the Tigers: Do you want to move Haase & Faedo for Hans Crouse?
...... if you're the Guardians: Will you take Bohm as a 1B and Haase C as Hedgie's partner??

Note: While less important to some, it's understood that none of the Guardians well thought of pitching prospects would come back to haunt the Guards 19 games per season...

The DBax backstops, Carson Kelly & JoseHerrera have combined for an "O" for the season.. (0-28 at last count).. but they have each had a couple nasty foul tips..
Thoughts?..

Haase actually isn't an improvement over Maile as the backup on paper. Haase doesn't have a legit bat at the end of the day and Maile is an upgrade over Haase defensively. For that part of the deal, I would have to say no...

Next would be Swapping Rosario for Bohm... That part I could get behind on paper. Arias would take SS, Miller would take 2B, Bohm takes 1B. Bradley is moved, Chang is moved, Clement is the utility guy.

So I wouldn't want Haase... Also I don't see Rosario as a fit for the Phillies cause of Didi... so let's see what silly trade I can come up with mwhahaha... @CDAV45 You know you love these...

Okay...

Rangers recieve: SP Zach Plesac (Cle)

Guardians recieve: SP Acker (Tex) SP Roby (Tex) 1B/3B Bohm (Phi) and C O'Hoppe (Phi)

Phillies recieve: 2B Duran (Tex) SP Burns (CLE) SP Bratt (Tex).

Next move...

Nationals recieve: SS Rosario Util Chang

Guardians recieve: LHP Cronin, OF Vaquero, SS Cruz and RHP Lara...

Essentially it's Rosario for a lefty reliever with control issues and 3 lotto prospects... Vaquero is definitely a headliner though since his ceiling limitless...

Next move...

1B Bobby Bradley (plus maybe lotto prospect) for RP Lou Trivino...

If we decide to go with this, then Morgan becomes our 5th starter... Bohm is at 1B and Arias is at SS... Trivino helps out Karinchak, Shaw and Clase in the back end...

So lineup would be...

Straw, Kwan, JRam, Reyes, Bohm, Miller, Naylor/Mercado, Arias, Hedges/Maile...

What do you guys think? Lol

That's what I proposed as a trade for Rosario... I don't see us getting anything different than just prospects for him personally. Cronin is a wild card lefty reliever and the other three, the oldest is 19... Vaquero is supposed to be the second coming of Soto in some peoples eyes via MLB.com
