Artest on the block

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If anybody would want D.Jones at this point ? DONE.

Gotta remember that Artests contract is only 6.75 this season making a trade for Ilgauskas difficult. So yes i am relaxed. More relaxed with Z starting center then Henderson as it would if that earlier proposed trade went down.

If we want Artest we should deal Hughes. No way should we have hughes, james and Artest. I see too many headaches there.

I dont beleive we have to give up any starters to get Artest.

But Luke and Anderson would be gone, thats a guarantee. Gooden could be involved in that some how as well.

It def wouldnt be Z and it certainly wont be Hughes. You dont trade major peices from your team, to another team and mess up chemistry, esp when you are getting Artest in return.

Former Pacers guard Reggie Miller doesn't see that happening, however. Citing Harrington as an example, Miller said he expects Artest to wind up with a losing team.
"Where's (Ron) going to be happy, Toronto?" Miller said Monday. "You think Al's happy right now?
"It's like I tell guys all the time . . . the grass isn't always greener on the other side. I told Al, 'Be careful, because it ain't like (Walsh) is going to ship you to Detroit or San Antonio,' where he can come back and hurt us. That would be stupid. So if he (Artest) thinks he's going to go to New York, or if he thinks he's going to go to Cleveland -- unless they send us LeBron back -- only way he's going to Cleveland is if he's going to The Flats."

I don't see Z going anywhere near Indy. If Artest wants out, we could offer only Ira/luke and maybe AV. Not sure it is worth the trouble. If I were GM in Philadelphia, I woudl seriously consider a trade for Artest, but I am not sure they have enough to offer. Also Milwaukee could benifit big in an Artest + for Redd. He could also play for the Lakers and make a difference. He has mentioned New York, but I don't see NY has anything they woudl give up for him. Maybe Denver, as they were already looking at Paul Pierce.

Everyone has to remember that to trade Artest, the Pacers have to get back equal salary in return. There is no way that we ship Hughes or Z out unless the Pacers throw in fillers. That isnt happening. The bad thing for them is they are going to trade a star player and not get equal value in return. That is why the the Artest for Peja trade is looking more realistic. Lets face it even if the pacers were looking to trade to the Cavs, they will not be getting what they want in return..

Well said. I see the same issues in a deal with the Knicks. ESPN is reporting (insider material, so I didn't read it) that "Lebron is intrigued with the Artest option". That being said, it can not be ruled out. A three-way deal could accomplish things as well obviously.

It just hit me...We are talking about RON ARTEST

Sure, I want a player "like him". But, the more I engage in the thought of bringing that guy in, the more i'm thinking it would be a HUGE mistake...

However, Ferry does need to explore all his options...

Ok ruanu so we trade our starting center for Tinsley and Artest...sweet now can Damon play center? We are so short on big men as it is, losing our biggest post presence? Please, Jackson Varejao Gooden for Artest and maybe Tinsley, they get some size and some youth. Jackson was adored heavily by Bird on draft night.

Got this from another board from another poster. Dont know how reliable it is.

"Hot rumor I got out here in Chicago is sending Mo. Pete Alvin Williams Araujo and Charlie V for Artest Scot Pollard and a second...

Got it off the radio by a pretty reliable source...

They said there is about 12 deals on the table for Ron so his value contrary to belief is sky high...
Minny is offering Wally and Griffen
Ny is offering any combo not including Frye
Cleveland is offering Hughes Luke Jackson and a first
L.A. an Odom combo deal
SEA is offering Lewis and Vlad.

Thats all I got to write down the dude was talking fast a couple more teams have stuff on the table. So as you guys see his value is sky high...."

Indy would have to send us something else for that to work. Even Hughes + Luke for Artest + Tinsley, indy still has to add some filler.

it's not insider information at all, windhurst, realgm and everyone in their mother reporter the same thing lebron said about artest.

all lebron said was it's flattering

espn is talking about q or crawford for artest. no fucking way

What about rashard lewis to sonics? Espn seems to think indiana would trade artest to philly for green/korver. Yeah fucking right, horrible horrible trade

Send him out to phoneix for barbosa/bell and someone else. korver and green is a complete joke

God I would love to get Artest too, I wouldn't mind trading Hughes and a couple others. But I can't see Indiana trading him here either nor Ferry pulling the trigger. Seems like too much of a rumor and pipe dream. I guess we can wish!

The reason for writing this is for such comments like yours here that were "up in the thread". Just trying to enlighten people that think that we can trade Z or hughes for Artest. It cant happen...

you obviously meant to insert toronto.

that toronto deal is pretty bad. only talent there is charlie v, mo p is okay, rest is crap.

hughes, jackson and a first is a good deal for indiana

sonics isn't bad at all.

no way artest to the lakers. odom is horrible plus who wants that $12 mill a year contract.

also bender might get thrown in with that huge contract
