If you can get by with a guy who won't potentially play at the MLB level until this time next year on your roster, yes. 38 year olds with bad hitting data probably aren't worth a bench spot in a keeper league.

What’s the latest on Espino and Hankins? I believe Espino was said to be coming back a week or two ago to throw a bullpen session but that got shelved. And Hankins?

Extra cautious with Espino. Guy who uses his legs a lot when he pitches, so leg/lower body injuries are treated a bit different for him. Expect him to be back in some capacity within the next 2 weeks, barring a setback.

Hankins is close to seeing some AZL rehab appearances. Throwing bullpens at the moment, getting right. He'll get a few of those under his belt and most likely hit Lake County after the MiLB all star break.

30-man rosters and 8 bench spots makes the Valera add a no-brainer. Just trying to find a guy to drop.

My only hesitation was that Gurriel had similar production in 2020, but came back with a strong 2021.

His peripherals are even worse this year though, and even though I’m typically a “wait it out” guy, I want to snag Valera before a league full of Cleveland fans gets wise.

Problem with Gurriel this go round is 3B and DH are locked up for the foreseeable future in Houston, and they have Joe Perez and our old pal Yanier Diaz, who they are converting to a 1B, starting to knock on the MLB door at 1B.

Gurriel isn’t a keeper regardless. We only keep six guys (plus a seventh if the player has no service time).

I just have to pick six from deGrom, Harper, Machado, Giolito, Stanton, Gilbert, Luis Garcia, Will Smith (catcher), and Musgrove.

Hey Bimbo, what's the organizations feelings toward Castro. The movement on his pitches is stupid. I don't think I've ever seen so much arm side run on a 97 mph FB. Can it be harnessed?

Not Bimbo, but it’s 5-5 in the 10th to get up one on their division rival this week, as the White Sox are chanting “Fire Tony.”

They’re in contention, this is fun baseball right now and they’ve got a chance to be in this thing.


Can definitely see an upgrade sought at catcher for the short term (Welington Castillo?), maybe an extra bullpen/multi inning piece.
