Ask Bimbo

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hey Bimbo, what's the organizations feelings toward Castro. The movement on his pitches is stupid. I don't think I've ever seen so much arm side run on a 97 mph FB. Can it be harnessed?

That's the hope. Unteachable spin rate skills and natural movement has always been a target for them to try and reclaim or buy low and progress.

Clippard, Maton, Stephan, Gose are all guys over the last few seasons with above average to elite spin rates that the team was able to get for next to nothing, progress, and get high quality production from. Castro is viewed the same way.

Does Oscar have good work ethic? Like does he watch tape of his swing and upcoming pitchers. Also does he work in the cage too?

@BimboColesHair how close to contention are we reastically? Obviously we are playing above what was expected but a lot of people have us as buyers at the deadline. Where do you see us towards the end of the year.

Next year, for me, has always been the year to open the next window.

4/5ths of the starting pitching staff hitting their primes, full years under the belts of Gimenez, Miller, Naylor, Kwan, and now Gonzalez, further progression from the bullpen arms, and pretty much your entire top 10 to top 15 prospects knocking on the door at your expense.

A number of ways they can go to become one of the best teams in baseball next year, whether that is moving prospects for MLB proven pieces or moving vets to open playing time for highly touted prospects to play around the young core and Jose who are producing at a high level already.

Gonzalez?

Yes, he has been asked to make a lot of changes, some uncomfortable for him, by the organization in his time within it and has never once raised a fuss and embraced the change and came out the other side a significantly better player.

Have to have good work ethic to do that.

This is so exciting to hear.

He just seems like an overall great kid. Very easy to root for.

Not Bimbo, but it’s 5-5 in the 10th to get up one on their division rival this week, as the White Sox are chanting “Fire Tony.”

They’re in contention, this is fun baseball right now and they’ve got a chance to be in this thing.

Can definitely see an upgrade sought at catcher for the short term (Welington Castillo?), maybe an extra bullpen/multi inning piece.
Welington Castillo hasn't appeared in the big leagues since 2019. Were you thinking of Willians Astudillo?

As you know.. the decision on who stays/plays & who goes won't be defined as "black & white".. It will come down to signability.. depth.. health... progression.. regression.. etc..

but make no mistake (and you're not).. this team is extremely talented and has a chance to be as fully complete and/or as good as any we've seen since the 97 squad...

What I love about Oscar is that you forget how big he is. Reyes looks huge at the plate, but Oscar looks normal sized then you see Jose on the bench giving him instruction and you are like oh yeah, Oscar is tight end sized guy playing baseball.

Hey @Bimbo seeing Freeman rounding into shape and finding his footing, I see him fighting with Owen for the starting 2B job next year, with Gimenez starting at SS…..,Do you see the same, and does he have some Rosario type approach when it comes to his AB….I watch a few of his games seems more like a free swinger with good bat contact

OK Bimbo, at what point does Cantillo get promoted? He had another fantastic outing tonight and has been pretty much lights out all season.
