Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You're congratulating a child for pissing in his bed instead of shitting in it...

Quarterback Baker Mayfield didn't completely rule out the possibility of a reconciliation with the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday in the event that the NFL suspends his replacement, Deshaun Watson, for the entire 2022 season.
Mayfield, however, added that the Browns would have to be the ones to start that process, and that he's moved on and looking forward to joining his new team once he finally is traded.
"I think for that to happen there would have to be some reaching out," Mayfield told reporters during his youth football camp in Norman, Oklahoma. "But we're ready to move on, I think -- on both sides."

Mayfield admitted that he was "frustrated" that a trade didn't happen before minicamp, but that he had no ill feelings toward Browns fans.
"I'm thankful for my four years in Cleveland," he said. "A ton of ups and downs and learning experiences I'll forever keep with me. ... The people in Cleveland, it's a great sports town. I'm thankful for it and there's no resentment to the city of Cleveland by any means."

Berry squeezing every cent out of this deal.

Hey John, it's Andrew. You sending us your rain? Man, it's like every other day this summer. Just seeing how the wife and kids are doing. All well and healthy? Good to hear.

Anyway, speaking of good and healthy, how were your QBs doing in OTAs? Geno's running down DBs quicker than ever? Drew's getting some good press outside the org. I heard even tennis pros were raving about him this week. Drew, fine QB you have there. Is Natalie still around with him? I've seen her bikini pictures. Team research and all.

We still have a guy we think could help you. His wife is a social media influencer, too. They really both make a large impression on the fanbase. National promotions. We'll even pick up half his salary and first class plane tickets out to you guys. No, really. It's the least we could do.

Oh, John, sorry. I have a North Carolina number on the other line. I'll have to cal you back.

The Panthers have been the frontrunner in the Mayfield trade talks, emerging as a suitor multiple times this offseason. Mayfield will likely have the opportunity to start in Carolina over Sam Darnold and rookie Matt Corral but Mike Sando of The Athletic thinks it’s not an ideal situation.
“I happen to think Carolina’s not a good fit for him and I know Baker’s agents well. They are very competent people, they’re good people, they understand it too,” Sando said. “I think Carolina’s a hornet’s nest cause I think the coach’s under the gun, I think everybody there’s under the gun. They’ve got an owner who’s ready to press the button any day now on a reset and if I’m Baker that could be messy and ugly. … That’s why I come back to Seattle being the one spot for him.”

Too bad Baker doesn't get a say in where he goes.

I'd say basically everyone in Seattle is under the gun too, and the team could easily clean house next spring and hire an all new staff.

I know I have mentioned this before but as the days go by and no Baker deal in place, is Berry and Co. waiting to see the Watson outcome with the small possibility of Baker returning during his suspension?
