Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
A very tough couple of games for our signal-caller. Thankfully both were wins.

In some ways that was the worst performance of Mayfield's professional career: ball location and calmness in the pocket were just not there today. Good news is that 2019 vintage Mayfield would have tuned over the ball at least once, maybe multiple times. That's a tremendous sign of growth surely.

I'm sure he''l be hard on himself and will correct those failings. It may take a couple of weeks and the next couple of games are against extremely tough opponents, but I trust Baker and Stefanski to absorb lessons, learn and correct.

Good point. He's much better at putting the ball where the defender can't get it, or just throwing it away. 2019 Baker would've thrown at least 2 INT today.

A shit game for sure. Not concerned. I do think his shoulder has got him spooked. He hasn’t gone downfield or attempted tight window throws since he got injured.

He had a terrible game guys, don't think this will be his new norm. The cries for Case Keenum and Matthew Stafford (lol) can be put to rest for now.
Agree. But there’s something going on. No doubt the left shoulder isn’t right, but the skittishness and happy feet aren’t a consequence of that. His timing is off, and with Baker it’s all about timing/comfort.

Looked like absolute crap today. Certainly his worst game since Kitchens.

Got lots of tape to review this week. I fully expect him to bounce back though. He had some awful games to start last season too. I will admit the inconsistency is still worrisome. He missed some gimmes today.

Ever since he hurt his shoulder, Baker has consistently been missing high… Not an injury expert, and not sure if there’s any correlation to non-throw shoulder, but it’s been pretty apparent last few weeks…

I just don't see any other explanation. He's clearly not forcing it to Beckham like he was early last year. He's missing everyone.

In all fairness OBJ needs to adjust to that ball. The sideline throw earlier in the 4th was a back shoulder throw and OBJ gave a piss poor effort on it. Either way baker sucked donkey dick today. Hopefully he gets a lot better next week

I thought we were finally over the "blame OBJ" shit, then I see this...
