Baker Mayfield: Fire The Cannons

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Since it looks like we're going to be stuck with him one can only hope that Baker watches the tapes of his suckitude Clockwork Orange style with clamps on his eyelids, electrodes on his nipples and balls delivering a taser shock, until it gets burned into his psyche that he needs to get the fucking ball out on time and on target. He should have to go to the back of the huddle and puke every time he pats the ball or fails to see an open receiver.

Or he just needs to fix his mechanics... lol

Honestly I felt like personally the shoulder injury got his mechanics off, then he kept pushing through and it kept making the situation worse. With his size and his mechanics being messed up through the injuries he started pressing and made things even worse.

Mayfield has to take a step back and fix the issues the season created. Slow himself down, get his mechanics back to square one and get confidence back into himself so he stops pressing.

Let's see how Mayfield and Stefanski grow and let's see how Berry addresses the insurance policy of a backup QB... We staying with Keenum or going with someone like Trubisky...

I understand people won’t agree with this, but nothing really changed today IMO.

The Browns are still going to explore every possible option at QB and if one presents itself that they’re comfortable with and they can make happen, they’ll make the move.

And candidly, I also believe there’s a certain price point where if a team were to call Berry and offer the Browns enough in draft compensation for Mayfield, they would go ahead and make that trade regardless of what else is lined up.

The Browns did two things with today’s leak to NFL Network. They strategically protected Mayfield’s potential trade value by publicly letting everyone know they aren’t actively looking to get rid of him (which theoretically would eliminate low ball offers) and they strategically protected their potential future relationship with the QB in the event they’re just totally unable to bring anyone else in.

Certainly interested to see it all play out.

I'd argue things have changed in that many were saying after the Steelers game that they couldn't see him returning anymore. It sounds like he and Stefanski had a productive meeting and there's absolutely a path forward together. Does that mean the Browns won't look at Wilson or Rodgers if they become available? Absolutely not. But I do think, short of an elite option becoming available to them, he's the guy in 2022.

I’d say there are at least 6 and possibly up to 8 quarterbacks that could be traded this offseason (not saying they all will be traded) that the Browns would be willing to go after to replace Mayfield.

I think the "locker room distrust" may be overblown in one sense: happens with plenty of top QBs (varying degrees, I know.)

It sounds like Big Ben was never well liked by a lot of teammates (Hines Ward absolutely loathed him. Outside current players, Bradshaw refused to talk to him for a long time after the Milledgeville incident.)

Ben was the starting QB on two Super Bowls winning teams for goodness sake.

Winning big earns head coaches and starting quarterbacks a lot of slack.

As I said, it's a matter of degree.

Since the two SB wins from the 00s, there have been plenty of .500 or very close seasons (you know, that Baker gets lambasted for,) and fewer playoff wins in the past 5 years.
