It’s not happening, so why bother talking about it.
This is Bakers team and town. Trading Baker would be a pre-2020 Browns type of move.
I could only imagine how pissed the players would be.

You are right in that it’s probably not happening, but the players would get over it in about 0.5 practices when they saw up close how superior Watson is (if they somehow don’t already realize).

Watson just put up one of the best seasons on a near talentless team in recent memory.

Im not sure I’m buying the argument that him moving to a play action system that is very advantageous to the QB position is somehow a downgrade from the current QB.

To say nothing of Stefanski’s ability to scheme to the talent of Watson.

Watson is better than Mayfield. In this system, in just about any system.

The numbers aren’t even that close...

I don't think anyone thinks talent-wise Watson has shown more than Mayfield. The hypothetical price tag, and what that means salary-wise/ asset wise for upgrading our team makes it a non-starter for me.

If the Browns offer Baker and a 1st+ for Watson, Houston turns it down and Baker finds out it probably turns into another Kyrie situation.

I’d take Watson in half a second.

But it isn’t happening so I’m good with Baker. He’s good enough to win in the playoffs, as long as we have pieces around him.

He’s not better than mahomes Rogers or Russ

But yeah there’s no way this team would revolt about that trade. Baker might be loved in this town and locker room but Watson would quickly win them back

Watson out-performed Wilson in nearly every metric on a team that was basically on fire.

What is the argument for Wilson that isn’t predicated on cliche or just an overall preference?

Zac Jackson said on the latest A to Z podcast that Baker is not even 1/5th the player than Deshaun Watson is. What a jaw-droppingly horrible take. I think most would agree Watson is better, but to say Baker is not even 1/5th of the player? Holy exaggeration.

Yes that’s a ridiculous statement.

Watson is better but there’s no way he’s traded here so it’s a bit of moot discussion unless you treat it as a thought experiment.

That’s a pretty exaggerated take, I don’t think anyone with half a brain would agree with it.

Deshaun Watson is absolutely a better QB than Baker Mayfield. The difference between them is noticeable, but not as big as the cost (financial and draft capital) would be to acquire him.

I think: Baker + (rumored) multiple draft picks >>> Deshaun Watson, even if Baker <<< Watson. So, Baker it is.

Yours Truly,
One of Bakers biggest critics
