Someone needs to start an Andrew Berry Nailed The Rebuild thread.
Kind of funny to look at the poll results, and then compare that to what happened in free agency and the draft. I mean...damn. AB makes the difficult look simple.
Curtis Weaver ‘ready to hit the ground running’ after missing rookie season
The Browns are giving Weaver, a 2020 fifth-round pick, a shot to prove himself in the NFL after he suffered a season-ending toe injury his rookie seasonwww.clevelandbrowns.com
Weaver knows he'll need a strong start in training camp to prove the Browns made the right decision. No one knows how many edge rushers the Browns will look to keep on their roster for 2021, but the position is normally limited to four or five players.
Three of those spots appear locked for Garrett, Clowney and McKinley, so there could just be one or two spots left among Weaver, Porter Gustin, Cameron Malveaux, Joe Jackson and undrafted free agent Romeo McKnight.
The Browns, however, believe Weaver can make a strong case.
"It's exciting," said defensive line coach Chris Kiffin. "He bought in, and we all saw the change. Word spread around the building like, 'Man, this guy might be something.' He's been fun. We've had him in the meeting rooms all year long and he's a good personality. We're anxious as can be to get him out there and see what he can do."
It’s smart to do moves like that. Kudos to BerryThis is the type of shit Berry does that is under the radar but so next level. Wilson a 3rd round grade DT with an injury that pushed him out of the draft was picked up with about 200k of cap room, basically buying a 6th/7th round pick for 200k but if he works out, he would have been worthy of a 2nd round.
Now we got this 5th round DE that had a 33 inch vert and 3 cone of 7.0. To get an idea of that, Myles three cone was 6.85 and as you might guess the best of all lineman at his combine,
So he is 6'3, only 265lbs but decently athletic and very productive in a non power 5 conference. All we gave up was a bit of cap room because we had to pay most of his salary and predraft he graded out by some as high as a 3rd round draft pick.
Even if he doesnt work out, we didnt waste a draft pick, just some cap room to pay his salary.
Like i said before, pretty obvious move now that we look at it, yet it was brilliant.
I actually think you're significantly underselling Wilson. This is the type of shit Berry does that is under the radar but so next level. It’s only Next Level if Weaver and Wilson(or even just one of the two) impact long term as a solid to plus player.
Schedule release is two days away. Any predictions? I am thinking at least 4 primetime games, one of which will be week 1 against either the Ravens or Steelers.
