BROWNS OFF-SEASON 2020

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Meh, it deserves a 0. You bring up a good point about Jane.

Actually I thought it was funny.

I almost commented with Harris that cutting him we lose a very good opportunity to have the most improved player on our team as he was ranked 44 out of 44 tight ends with as many targets.

Thank you sir!

Lol - was terrible by any measure. He seemed like an okay teammate, but I disliked him because a guy like Njoku - who would have certainly helped in the red zone as he proved effective with Mayfield last year - sit inactive.

Can they just blackmail Joe Thomas into coming out or retirement and lock him inside Golden Corral so he could play LT again?

Thuney also plays LG. I am not well-versed enough in offensive line to know how easy/difficult it would be for him or Bitonio to transition to RG, but one of them would have to. Thuney is no doubt a good player, but I will always be a bit skeptical about signing or trading for Patriots players based off of their track record

Most of these bullets aren’t telling me anything other than he’s durable. Cam Erving is a super bowl champ who has started a lot of games. Those bullets should have just been ommited.

Durability is a really important quality, though. Especially on the offensive line where cohesion and consistency is important to the overall performance of the unit. Zero penalties last year is also huge, especially considering how many our offensive line had that buried us in holes too deep to dig out of. And I'll take an all pro player still in his prime any day of the week. 2nd team is still impressive.

We need to be at his door minute 1

He's going to be expensive. Roger Saffold signed a 4/$44M deal last year, and he wasn't first or second team All-Pro the year before. So you're likely looking at $12+/year to sign Thuney, and he doesn't fill either of our two greatest positional needs -- OT and S. If we're going to spend money on a top-tier FA, I'd rather he be at a true position of need. I think @Urban also makes a good point about him playing LG. If you're paying a guy All-Pro money -- and we'd be paying that to both of our starting guards, you should at least play the guy at the position at which he has had his most success.

I also think he's overrated. He's nowhere near the guard that Bitonio is. If we were to pay a premium for another guard, he has to be a guy that changes the game--especially in the run game. I want another guy like Bitonio, Martin, Nelson--someone who can do everything, and is an absolute wrecking ball when they pull.

It's easier to not have penalties called against you when you're on the Patriots. No false starts is nice, but their entire system is designed around Brady getting the ball out quickly. Every player on that line should have a below-average number of holding penalties because they aren't asked to pass block for extended periods of time.

I'd rather have Jack Conklin come play RT than go after Thuney. Brandon Scherff is probably the only FA Guard that interest me.

Switching between LG and RG should not be a problem. Might be the 2 easiest positions to switch in the NFL. Certainly the 2 most interchangeable on the OLine.

That said, I wouldn't even look at him. We're actually pretty strong up the middle with Bitonio and Tretter. Interior OLine is one of the most replaceable positions. I'd buy an argument that with what we're paying Bitonio and Tretter, we're already overspending there. Spending for a 3rd big $$$$ interior OL makes no sense. Find a JAG for cheapish.
