Browns Training Camp 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
One under-the-radar WR that was cut yesterday and would make sense to me. Has some special teams ability so wouldn't be redundant with Bell like Tyler Johnson would be.

I'm going to trust the NFL teams on this one.

I had Melton as the #1 receiver on my board once Skyy Moore got chosen at pick 54.

I have no idea how he dropped all the way to pick 229, and now got cut.

In scouting, people like to say there are three thirds:
  1. On-field performance (film)
  2. Tests, Drills, etc (Combine, Senior/Shrine bowls)
  3. Off-field stuff (Personal issues, behavior, etc)
We never get to see the "third third" and I have to imagine there are some things in Melton's third third that caused him to fall that far and then get cut by Seattle.

Seattle has a propensity to take a shot on incredibly talented receivers with off-field issues. They picked up my guy Tamorrion Terry last year as a UDFA before cutting him due to off-field issues.

I'd love for someone with Melton's talent to wind up here--but if we pass on him, I'll assume it's due to off-field issues that the public is unaware of.

It's possible. I'm also highly skeptical that Andrew Berry has an appetite for senior bowl WRs, but I'd be behind it as a flier.

I couldn't agree more with this as a general principle. I think some fans discount the things that we can't see simply because we fans cannot see them, and therefore they must not be that important. Or, they believe they are simply invented excuses, often accompanied by claims that a poster knows someone who knows someone who knows the guy, and he really isn't that bad at all.

It is difficult to argue against this because these are things that we can't see, and therefore we can't be specific about the reasons a team passed on a player.

It's basically the KPJ scenario. When pretty much every single team in the league refused to trade for the guy despite the real talent he showed, that was a giant red flag that there were a lot of problems beneath the surface. And yet, plenty of people blasted Koby for not being able to solve the problem, and not being able to get more in trade for KPJ.

Blake Hance is officially gone. Was claimed.

Kellen Mond was the only Browns waiver claim.

As soon as I heard he was cut, I wanted to get him here. For our QB strategy (backups should be mobile, so our Watson system doesn't have to change), Mond fits that perfectly.

I was too high on Mond in the draft. I'm still holding out hope that he can beat out Dobbs in Cleveland.

If I had to guess... the Browns will waive Mond within a couple of days once other teams have settled their back up and third string QB situations and then attempt to sneak him through to the practice squad.

Didn't we have to cut/move someone else to get Mond though?
