With the acquisition of Jamaal Magloire Tuesday afternoon the Milwaukee Bucks have now become one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. Bucks GM Larry Harris has finished a perfect offseason by dealing Desmond Mason and a 2006 first round pick to the Hornets for All-Star centre Magloire.
"In Jamaal Magloire, we were able to add a young, All-Star-caliber big man to our front-court rotation", Bucks general manager Larry Harris told ESPN. "He can score facing up, as well as with his back to the basket and he's proven to be a good defender and rebounder during his young career".
The Bucks now have a starting line-up of Magloire, Andrew Bogut and Bobby Simmons in the front court and Michael Redd and TJ Ford in the back-court. Bucks head coach Terry Stotts also has the benefit of Joe Smith, Dan Gadzuric, Jiri Welsh, Toni Kukuc, Ervin Johnson and Maurice Williams coming off the bench.
Not only does the addition of Magloire shore up the Bucks frontcourt, it also clears up a log jam the Bucks currently had at the shooting guard and small forward spot while providing Bogut with an excellent mentor.
Umm, can you say future Beasts of the East?
The Bucks have a strong team this season but what really makes this deal scary is how the team will look three years from now. Redd, Bogut, Magloire, Ford and Simmons are all be entering the prime of their careers. The Bucks current starters have a chance to fight for home court advantage this season, imagine what the team will be like after three years of playing together? That must be a scary thought for Eastern Conference GM's.

Fine article. The Bucks are equipped moreso than any other EC team to be dominant after the 2007 season if not sometime before. With youth and upper tier talent at the 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 positions, there is no other team in the east that can compare with the Bucks' three to four year projection. The Chicago Bulls and perhaps the Boston Celtics are rivals, but I'd take the Bucks overall talent over either of those teams. Indiana will still be in good shape and will be a force to reckon with.
In 3-4 years, these Eastern stars will certainly be on the decline:
Zydrunas Ilgauskas
Donyell Marshall
Damon Jones
Eric Snow
Shaquille Oneal
Alonzo Mourning
Antoine Walker
Jason Kidd
Vince Carter
Allen Iverson
Chris Webber
Rasheed Wallace
Chauncey Billups
Ben Wallace
Lindsey Hunter
Antonio McDyess
Antiwan Jamison
Antonio Davis
Bucks that will be reaching their prime in 3-4 years:
Ford
Redd
Magloire
Bogut
Williams
Bell
Simmons
Gadzuric
I think Milwaukee has a pretty bright future ahead.
