Exactly - with Rubio out and Garland in foul trouble and limited to 23 minutes against a strong opponent on the road that had won three straight LeVert stepped up when he was needed with 13 points, 9 assists (most of which resulted in uncontested dunks), 6 rebounds, and 2 steals.Versus Pelicans, that is optimal LeVert. One of the guards in foul trouble (or otherwise absent -- in that game, Ricky was out altogether, refs jobbed Darius out of the game). Come in, move the ball, score within the offense. Make sure the bigs get going. Play some defense.
Maybe, like Okoro, his thing was not knowing what was "allowed" and also the anxiety of possibly being traded once again.
CJ McCollum was 4-for-14 from the field and I think LeVert was checking him at least part of the time.
For 3.5 seasons before coming to Cleveland LeVert averaged 16-17 shots per game. This year he's averaging 10.7 in 31 minutes. He's been willing to change his game from a ball dominant point guard to a complementary sixth man type whose main job is 3-and-D.
His 3-point percentage is the highest of his career. He's been very unselfish about fitting in to this team and filling the role they need as opposed to staying in his comfort zone. Fedor says they want to extend him. He's not without flaws but he brings the kind of unselfish mentality and defensive chops they want on this team.
