Cavaliers Trade Ideas: 2022-23 regular season edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I know Kemba Walker has been atrocious for the Knicks, but I find it strange his regression after taking Charlotte to the post-season years ago is that bad. Is he not in the right situation and is being asked to do things he can't do? Could he still be effective at scoring and making plays off the bench as our potential backup PG? Just like Love has shown us in limited minutes and in a well-defined role? Or is he really that cooked?

I think we could grab him from the Knicks for almost nothing if we wanted to gamble. His salary next season is only $9,165,471 and then he's a free agent.

His knees are no good anymore

I've always liked Walker and love the idea of this but I don't know enough about his physical condition to say whether he's worth the risk. Looking at his recent performances does not instill confidence, but it could be a good buy low move?

Do we really need him? I really think we need a scorer with some more size and Walker in my mind doesn't fit that... I want someone who can play off of Garland not a backup for Garland...

If Rondo keeps going down then making sure DG doesn't have to do everything [so we can keep him healthy] may be a bigger priority. If Kemba's knees are shot, I like Schroeder.

The only wing the Cavs have been rumored with is LeVert.

Believe me:
If we get Gordon, and he helps us to the Eastern Conference Finals,
then people will remember the 2021-22 Cavs season a helluva lot longer than
whoever the 22nd pick in the draft will be.
Depends who that 22nd pick is. Not many people have fond memories of the Cavs making the 2007 NBA Finals only to get swept by the Spurs.

We don't need to overspend at the deadline just for this first playoff run but... what? I have incredibly fond memories of that first Eastern Conference championship and I'm sure many posters here do as well.

Windy was just on ESPN. He says the Cavs are active. They like Schroeder (DPE somehow) and Eric Gordon (Rubio contract). He says he wouldn't be surprised if the Cavs came away with two players at the deadline.

A potential bench of Schroeder, Gordon, Love, and Cedi is nuts.

Schroder fits in the DPE subject to hard cap rules, but I'm confident Koby and co. can figure out the details. He's owed nothing next year so there's no longer term commitment. Just seems like a nice fit.

I still like the idea of Ingram. Obviously would depend on cost.
Unfortunately Ingram would cost DG, Mobley, or JA. He is my ideal wing for this team and would complete every major weakness.

Then we would laugh them out of the room...

@Jscc Isn't Ingram due what's left of 31 million plus another 100 million in the next three years?

I honestly feel like we cannot mess a lot with the main core of this team and if someone wants one of them, we have to literally say no and move on to the next deal...

At this point I figure our most likely moves are Rubio for either Gordon or Levert, hopefully using only a couple second round picks, and using one of our exceptions to add a bench piece, maybe as third team in a bigger trade (and recouping second round picks?).

Another target that has not been mentioned much...Alec Burks wth NYK. He fills that shotmaker role better than some of the names we've heard and is both cheaper and more consistent than Levert/EG
