Cavaliers Trade Ideas: 2022-23 regular season edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cleveland receives: John Collins, Delon Wright, Kevin Knox & Gorgui Dieng
Atlanta receives: Lauri Markkanen, Cedi Osman, Ricky Rubio, Kevin Pangos, '22 top 5 prot. frp, two '22 srp's via Hou & SAS

Why?
Cleveland goes all in. Collins could play next to Mobley & Allen. Wright is a playmaker we need, Knox is added to match salary but he could still have some potential & Dieng gives us depth @ the center spot.
Atlanta goes for a big that can shoot from long range. Osman is a quality player on a team friendly deal. They get three good picks in the process as well.

PG: Darius Garland / Collin Sexton / Delon Wright
SG: Isaac Okoro / Dylan Windler
SF: John Collins / Kevin Knox / Lamar Stevens
PF: Evan Mobley / Kevin Love / Dean Wade
C: Jarrett Allen / Gorgui Dieng / Ed Davis
Coach: J.B. Bickerstaff

We aren't in the NBA game... I don't see this happening in real life... lol

It will be a smaller deal if we make one...

With the Joe Ingles news......

I think we are a year away here......so I would be curious if the Jazz are going to be more aggressive buyers sitting at the 4 spot in the West.

Stash a pick and grab a secondary ball handler. Is Utah hanging up or are they listening?

Not a splash move but IMO a guy like Alex Len is somewhat functional and could probably be had for next to nothing. Having a big bruiser like Len could bring some value against the more physical teams like Philadelphia, Indiana, and a handful of others by absorbing 6-12 mins a game to save some wear and tear on Allen and Mobley (especially during reg season).
Depending on what it would cost, Len could be a nice pickup that could help in the playoffs. I still remember when he was in the running for the #1 pick in that fateful 2013 draft. Good thing we opted for Anthony Bennett...ouch! That one still stings.

Agreed. That's more of a fantasy basketball/video game trade. I can't see the Cavs going that big, given the chemistry this team has.

I believe they are holding out hope for Jerami Grant. Had intended to move Ingles anyway, since he's an aging player with down numbers and on an expiring deal. They may be more aggressive in search of replacement now, so you could be on to something.

I don't know much about Butler and that first round pick is probably in the mid 20s. Feel we could either give Lauri more time to get his shot in order and either move him to a bench role or move him apart of a bigger/better deal.

I don't want to trade Lauri unless it is for a significant piece. He's 24, 7 feet, stretch/shooting big, and locked up on a reasonable contract for four years. I also want nothing to do with Ingles. He's a clown.

Ingles is just a contract at this point. Won't be able to return until much later next season and is on the decline at 34. Like Rubio, he may be considering retirement after such a serious injury this late into his career

Its not a great contract either. Wouldn't be surprised if he retires soon too. He nearly did after the bubble.

Basically would add another deal similar to Rubio's and I believe it can be traded again in a one for one deal but I doubt we will able to get a return in time. It's a possiblity that we get stuck with Rubio's deal past the deadline as it is

Are we tanking?

Those are the type of trades that get you fired. You don't give away young talent for a probable low draft pick two drafts away.

Cavs trade:
Allen, Okoro, Cedi

Kings trade:
Haliburton, Barnes, Holmes/Len

Oh goodness no!

You’re not only trading our reasonably priced 23 year old fringe all star center— a 21 year old, potentially elite defender down the road —but also trading half of Garland’s playmaking responsibilities and probably making Mobley’s life from a defensive end as well as on the glass standpoint much worse…

This fascination with the Sacramento Kings roster is definitely a new head scratcher…

I dont understand why we would move anyone who has been in our main rotation... We need to compliment/reinforce that crew not replace them... We likely are playoff bound with that crew, so let's get guys to make the main 8 better...
