Cavaliers Trade Ideas: 2022-23 regular season edition

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I actually like this one quite a bit.

Would Phoenix be able to afford Lauri's contract though?
The transaction works on trade machine. I added Saric to match salary.

Another trade I came up with:

Cleveland receives: Kevin Huerter & Jalen Johnson
Atlanta receives: Cedi Osman & 14th pick

Why?
Cleveland adds a 3pt specialist & a good wing prospect.
Atlanta gets some cap flexibility & a lottery pick.
Yes. No brainer on the Cavs end, but the Hawks say no.

Thoughts on this trade?

Cleveland receives: Cam Johnson & Dario Saric
Phoenix receives: Lauri Markkanen

Why?
Cleveland goes away from the tall line-ups in favor of a traditional small forward.
Phoenix gets a big that can stretch the floor next to Ayton.
This proposal is interesting to me. Only negative is restricted next year, so Johnson's price will balloon quite a bit.

Theoretically if Sexton, Mobley and 2 1sts get it done and you have a magical guarantee Zion will be healthy, and give you 12 years of health, how many people take that trade?

I do and i even add in Okoro and another 1st if needed.
That is a small price to pay for a magical guarantee! If they also throw in a magical guarantee of a championship I would even include Garland in the trade!

I like Cam, but I’m not real sure he’s any better than Lauri and probably will cost more to keep. Plus, surprisingly, he’s older than Lauri despite being in the NBA two fewer years.

If we could trade for Cam and keep Lauri, I’d do that. I just don’t think the net gain of Lauri for Cam is that much if anything, and we get rid of the ability to play the 777 lineup.

I saw a similar trade on another site & decided to share it here.

Cleveland receives: Russell Westbrook (probably waive), 1st round swap (Cavs choice), '27 unprotected first
Los Angeles receives: Caris LeVert & Kevin Love

Why?
Cleveland moves on from Love. They get two firsts for him.
Los Angeles gets two quality players without giving up all their firsts.

This makes no sense. And I don't even care for LeVert and am fine with Trading KLove if the deal is right. This isn't the right deal. This might be worst trade proposal I've seen in a long time.

Why would we take on Westbrook’s massive contract and waive just to get two first rounders??

It would actually be 1 first rounder. A pick swap doesn't really count as an extra first. It's just the option to change your draft position. So we lose 2 rotation players for 1 first. A pick swap. And Westbrooks contract.

If you get the 25 and 27 unprotected you'd have to think hard about it. But 27 and a random swap is not enough return for essentially liquidating two rotation players for nothing.

If you can dump cedi instead of caris id look at it more seriously

I know this is out there, but, if Russ could embrace coming off the bench I could see something like this:

To CLE: Westbrook, THT, 2023 2nd, and a 2025 or 2027 1st (unprotected)
To LAL: Love, LeVert, & Osman

Any interest in Kenyon Martin Jr? Put up pretty respectable numbers his first 2 years in the league still only 21.
Has approached the Rockets about a trade out of there....any interest in 39/Windler for him?

Young, athletic SF...you bet I'd be interested! That's right in our wheelhouse.

ESPNRadio just reported that the Cavs and Spurs are still talking about a Dajounte Murray trade and said it’ll probably have to include Sexton/Okoro and the Cavs taking back some contracts to make the numbers work.

That sounds unrealistic. Spurs just drafted 2 guards last night. After drafting one at 12 last year. And one the year before that at 11. I would love to get Murray. But it's a pipe dream and not realistic.
