I think they're betting on Cedi's work ethic like they are with Nance. Those two and Love are the only veterans to get multiple year deals. They haven't extended TT, Clarkson, Knight, Henson or Delly. The core so far seems to be: Sexton, Garland, Porter, Windler, Cedi, Nance, and Love.Even if he regresses? At his current levels what is he on a playoff team? 8th man? If he gets worse he doesn’t see the court. Not sure that equals good money spent.
Cedi needs to make a marked jump in consistency this year.
At some point they need to spend money on the young guys, sure. Let’s hope he’s worth it.
I wouldn't be surprised if they try and sign Henson to a similar deal. He's 29 and should have some productive years left. He's the only true rim protector on the team and Beilein loves him.
"[John] Henson’s very different from the other bigs. When we watched him playing in pickup, he changes a lot of things for us. We need that very badly." - Beilein
If TT is traded or leaves in free agency the Cavs will be hurting for big men, especially if Henson is also moved. Love is injury prone and Nance is talking about being a stretch 4 now. Zizic is a classic low post center who doesn't fit the modern NBA and Beilein's vision of five players who can all dribble, pass, shoot and drive. Assuming they have a top 10 pick next year I expect them to use it on a center who has some movement and shooting skills if they can get one.
