Thank you for the education!
Is there a particular location you go to when shopping for your next watch?
I never buy one new. But there are a few places to look for good pre-owned watches:
1) Reputable watch dealers. There are a fair number online. They usually have warranties etc. But they command a premium.
2) Watch sites. Like Chrono24. I like Chrono24 because they have a huge network. And, more importantly, an authenticity guarantee backed with their Escrow Service. If a watch is not as described, the seller doesn't get the money and you send the watch back.
3) Various watch forums, like The Rolex Forum, Breitling Source etc. They have buy-sell sections and users who sell usually have a reputation one can look to. However, no authenticity guarantee. But generally it is fine.
4) Ebay. This used to be a real crap shoot. One had to really, really know their watches to spot the fakes and only buy from trusted sellers. But now they have a guarantee as well.
I recommend places like Chrono24 first until you gain more experience in this Forums. I got this watch from TRF. Didn't have to pay the ruinous 9.25% CA Sales tax.
