I don't think Garland is currently suited to be part of a 2 guard lineup. He just doesn't give the scoring punch and speed needed to make a team pay from the mismatch. I will also admit that Sexton needs to grow too to be part of a 2 guard lineup, he needs to work on his PG skills so he isn't just a pure attacking guard.

I think all we are learning right now is Garland/Sexton can't guard 6'7+ wings. Really it isn't a task they are ready for yet, they both need to get better at guarding guys their own size first.

Koby needs to make some moves and open up the minutes so Beilein is forced to match up better. Getting rid of Clarkson and pushing that Windler and KPJ need a certain amount of minutes might force Beilein to make the proper adjustments to the rotation.

I think we are at the point where Sexton and Garland need to separated for their development. Their shared backcourt doesn't need to be 100% dropped from the rotation but Beilein or someone on his staff needs to forward scout teams and plan to deploy Sexton/Garland together against the matchup that suits them best, which might be against 2nd units. I would drop Sexton and Garland playing together from 25+ down to 12-14 minutes a game.

Yeah I agree. Personally, I don't think Garland is ready to start. It is not a knock on him, maybe he really is talented enough to be a starting pg. He is not ready defensively to start. He is overmatched every game there.

I keep saying it, but I would try to emphasize Cedi's ballhandling and playmaking and slot him at the 2 and have Windler play the 3 at least on offense. Have Collin play pg and send Darius to the bench. I mean just Cedi and Collin playing down a position should help enormously. All the spacing has gone out of the starting unit. We need more shooting. I think Windler would help spacing and ball movement. I know he hasn't played a game, but he is that kind of glue guy.

The thing I am worried about Beilein is that he is trying to get other teams to adjust to him, well they are doing it and it is working. Maybe he should pull Garland or Sexton early when the are being abused by Simmons or Hayward.

This is why I over rate Osman as much as I do,,,at least the guy can make an entry pass to the post from the wing and I've seen Osman make
entry passes to the post man from the top of the key as well which is way more difficult but he can do it...Sexton and Garland won't recognize mismatches and neither can make simple entry passes or just flat out refuse to do so. Its gotta be driving the bigs mad.

This is one of the fundamental little things that drive me up the wall. Furthermore; the guard(s) in question oftentimes take half the shot clock up thinking about it, giving the defense a nice rest and their own teammates on their heels.

Sometimes I think people believe we took Colin in the top4 or passed up Luka or JJJr. for him.

Idk. Yes he has flaws but still see him as already being decent for a pick out of the top5 and believe he still have more ceiling to his game as he matures and gets another year or two under his belt.

Not saying I love everything about his game but for his draft slot, stage or his career, and production/impact so far, I think he’s off to a solid start to his career. I think he will either have long term value for the Cavs or yield some return value in a future trade

Love was the best player tonight... but the Cavs don’t win this game without Sexton’s defense and transition play.

He puts alot of pressure on a defense just with his transition game. The fact that he never gets tired, it's kind of puzzling that they don't utilize it as much as they can.

Also that 360 dunk he had after he got fouled was pretty impressive if anyone caught that.

When they were playing well early he would just streak down the floor 4-5 times a game and it would result in points or an exploitable mismatch.

Good attack game tonight. Just need to refine it and he will draw more fouls and hopefully get some assists on kickouts. Wasn't great moving the ball tonight, but had some nice passes.

I noticed it, probably the best dunk I've seen on this team this year even though it didn't count.

He needs to keep working on different things but I love his competitiveness. It really shows in tight games going down the stretch. He makes mistakes but he also wants the ball and wants to win badly.

One poster said that he lacks the shiftiness/crossover package. He has that start-stop hesitation going for him but he needs to learn to go east-to-west, it will open his game more. His lack of vision is disconcerting, but with proper coaching he will be passable. This team needs to exploit his speed and keep the pace up. Run even after made baskets. That is why garland is a misfit with sexton. Garland needs to lead the bench.

I think hes going to be a really solid 6th man. Truly.

Some team might try and make him a starter. But that'll end up like Monta Ellis. Best player on bad teams.

Collin has some of that athleticism he hasn't shown yet. He can go up stronger and not get blocked so much.

He still has a lot to work on. If he was 22-23 I would be more worried, but I think he should be credited for working really hard and playing off the ball.

I don't know why he is suddenly so gunshy about the 3 and why it isn't falling. That is really troubling. It's so weird because it didn't seem like a fluke last year as his 3 ball was the super reliable thing last year.

The way he is getting to hole and finishing is pretty amazing considering his size and that his 3pt shot ins't currently working. His decision making when to attack out of the pick and roll has been much better, but the passing just seems to come and go without warning. One minute he is getting it to the corner, or getting Love a 3, the next he is taking a bad shot. I'd say more good than bad right now, but he needs to keep his teammates involved.

Still he is one of the few guys who can get his shot on this team and he is the leading scorer for a reason. The kid can score and his strength in the post has been a nice surprise. Getting that baby hook over bigger guys.

I really like Collin but yeah he has some Monta quickness, some Lou Will, even some Pat Bev bulldog in him. He's going to be a really good player for a long time even if it's in a Lou/Harrell type bench role. He was actually a nice pick considering they got stuck picking 8th. A great guy to have as your 3rd scoring option. He's got endurance, is durable and a hard worker too. Now that he's getting better defensively and can keep his 3 pt % up there he won't end up an inefficient/ poor defender like Monta.
Unfortunately we aren't going anywhere until we draft a legit future franchise #1 guy and that player ain't on the roster.
