Yeah something to this. You want Garland to be your floor raiser and Collin to be your ceiling raiser, killing teams in the clutch.
Yeah watching the playoffs last year and all I could think is Sexton is going to be a terror for teams in the playoffs. Hopefully we can make it work here.

We have seen it a lot where they just can't stop him from scoring. The trouble is so far, the Cavs have only rarely been in that position a couple of times where they can keep the other team from scoring on the other end.

4 overtime games last year. Won 3 of 4 with Sexton carrying the scoring load and going Nuclear in double OT against the nets.

One thing that is amazing about Collin is the dead legs don't get to him. He can still hit those shots.

How valuable would Sexton have been to Philly for example? They need clutch 4Q shooting from someone and Collin could do that. It can be so difficult to get buckets deep in the playoffs. On the other hand he would also be a defensive liability in many situations. I know many people think Collin‘s destiny is already written but like many of our young players nobody knows just yet.

I think the cavs will be in the playoffs this year, if you check there record last year against the good teams they hung around to the last 10 minutes before they lost this year with the players they picked up or traded for will put them in the playoffs.

there's a reasonable case to be made that IF you are adding Simmons, you should be moving Garland to Philly as part of the deal. Sexton/Okoro/Simmons/Mobley/Allen w/Ben being your PG is an interesting line-up. Evan and Isaac will need to add jumpers, but you can see how the down hill attack from Collin could work with a true high post passing threat.
Defensively you would be reasonably talented and long everywhere but the 1.

Not sure everybody is going all out, but that video shows a lot of what is best about Colin.. he dribbles through contact easily, under control, and with good awareness of subtle space. Give him two feet and he pops for points before you can react.. very good at reading defender readiness..

Hard to say what this looks like in game 7 playoffs. I think for example he might be shutdown by a guy like Ben Simmons.. but I am thinking he will not be bothered by say Holiday on the Bucks as much as Brooks was..

Three years in, and Sexton has strapped up almost Beal-like physically. It will be interesting to see if he can improve on last year..

Shutdown by Ben Simmons??? Sexton has torched the Sixers from his rookie season on. Simmons is great at shutting down wings, not so good at defending much smaller, quicker guards.

Exactly. Simmons is great at locking up wing players. He gives Doncic fits. With that said his achilles is trying to defend smaller, quicker guards which is a reason Collin goes off on the Sixers every time. Even Thybulle who is a very good defender has issues trying to stop Sexton.

The Sixers and Hawks are teams that Collin scorches every single time the Cavs play them.

And of course Trae Scorched them too. I think Simmons is 2-4 defensive player.

One of the issues with classifying players as 1-5 is that players do not always guard their opposite number. Sexton for example can absolutely be a shooting guard on offense (2). The issue is who does he guard on defense, which in turn depends on matchups. I completely agree Simmons is 2-4 as a defender. He’s not interested in playing forward or center on offense.

SexLand has an obvious issue defensively which makes it questionable that they can start together long term. On the other hand that combo will get some teams problems on the other end of the court. Sexton IMHO absolutely is a starter in this league (too efficient a scorer not to be) so it’s a matter of who plays with him on the court so he can guard someone short and/or not a significant offensive threat. That may be here or elsewhere.

To me it comes down to whether Allen Mobley can be elite defensively. With Okoro on board as well, I think they have as good a shot as anybody of making 2 smaller guards work. We will find out.

Sexton is strong, and strength can go a long way. It's his team defense awareness that is truly lacking. I think he gave much better effort last year, and the proof of concept that it could work was in effect when Drummond and Larry were on the front line.

I just love his facial expression in that shot. It's possible that the kid may always have flaws in his game that prevent him from ever becoming a great player, but I'm always going to love the way he approaches the game. He plays with joy, and determination, and always plays fearlessly. Love watching that even if it doesn't always translate to wins.

In a league that sometimes has too many whiners, prima donnas, and entitled pricks, Collin just does it all right. He, Larry Nance Sr., and Delly are my top 3 favorite Cavs because those dudes always played the game the right way.

I only ever saw him down when he got kicked out of the game when he elbowed Durant in the face. As a Cavs fan, that ruled that he was willing to take it to a superstar who had been fouling him all night at the rim.
