It’s not that Okoro is really awful or I don’t think he has some potential, but people talk about him as a budding star and I just haven’t seen it yet
I feel the same. I think mostly I hear about how good he is in practice from players but I don't see all that much on the court, yet. .except that day he just went off for 32 (I think) and you could see his court awareness and athleticism could be very special. But there weren't a lot of those games to pull from.

I'm really glad we have some better defenders now. Okoro was really good containing Collin in the scrimmage. Mobley also swatted him and was able to keep up with him.

It's going to make him pass to the open man or he will just continue to get shut down in practice.

Underrated aspect of having good defenders is they sharpen your offensive players in practice.

Cavs' only player in CBS Sports Top 100 ranking is Sexton at 76

Top 100 players: Collin Sexton (76)
Sexton may be the next young player in the league slapped with the "empty stats" label as the Cavaliers slowly inch toward relevance. He averaged a career-high 24.3 points a season ago, but it didn't translate to team success. But we've seen this story play out hundreds of times in the league, and last season showed that as these young stars get better supporting casts around them, those labels quickly fall away. Just ask Booker and Young.

I finally figured out okoro’s ceiling . A less athletic Chucky Brown .

I've always liked Sexton but teams have adjusted to him and his lack of height isn't helping things. Also I think he knows his days are numbered here, he isn't getting the payday he hoped for, so his focus to help us win may be diminished somewhat.

I'm not losing it over Sexton's first preseason game. He generally starts slowly. I was taken in last year when he played poorly all pre-season and then they won their first 3 games.

People were saying Darius and Collin looked the same, but those were the 2 best guys on our team last year. They looked terrible last night.

Sexton fell back into some habits last night when the offense broke down. Ball and Caruso's length and defense really bothered Garland. Okoro is worthless on offense. Allen was a mess last night. The offensive scheme (using that term loosely) broke down after a few possessions. Sexton and Rubio were just out there trying to make something out of nothing. We all know Collin and Ricky are NBA players but do have concerns about the offensive "system" they are trying to run. Just telling them to play fast is not a system.

I'm not worried about Sexton, other than the fact we'll probably trade him for table scraps and he'll be horrible to play against, ha. He has his flaws and occasional bad games (very occasional). His frustrations last night seemed more about the system being shit, than either him or Rubio not being gamers.

I'd start Sexton and Rubio over Okoro and Garland (and make those 2 work for it... Show some fire or sit on the bench).

Agreed and I don't think Okoro is anywhere close to an NBA level starter at this point. Is he any better than someone like Josh Green who is sitting on Dallas' bench? On paper you would think Okoro could be a good fit next to DG. He can defend guards but other than that is a terrible fit offensively next to Garland. They are both way too passive and defenders don't really need to mind Okoro much esp when he's just camping out at the 3 point line which is ironic since he can't shoot 3's.

Hopefully I'll eat my words but Okoro's alarming lack of offensive skill makes me think I'm probably right about him.

what offense? there was literally never any organized ball being played yesterday so falling into so called bad habits is incorrect imo. It is simple simon shit . He is now trying to pass more and the team is not good enough to catch his passes let alone convert. he had a sweet pass attempt in the lane to the trailer and the trailer just earned the name hands cause he aint got any

Hey c'mon man...I think they did run a play the first possession of the game! You are asking way too much here!

I did see Jarrett fumble that pass from Collin though. As I mentioned in the Allen thread it looked like he was playing with oven mitts last night.

There will be no logic to these preseason rotations imo regardless. I think every player on the team was either out of position or out of their comfort zone by design to test their versatility.
the coach is not a bad coach in fact he has a pair to be this blatant about it not caring about the scrutiny.
As long as the team understands the reasons and is willing to buy in it will make them better eventually.
But yes not entertaining and not good basketball

At this point I"m going to assume that he is headed to RFA.
I don't think there is anyway both sides get together on a deal that works.
I think he's probably worth 20 million avg for 4 or 5 years no more than that.
Something like a Jarrett Allen type of contract. Maybe i'm undervaluing him.
Anyway if you were Koby what would you be offering Sexton contract wise? What is a fair contract offer?
