My thought on Collin is his skillset is something that the Cavs are lacking.

Do I wish he was 6'7" instead? Sure.

His ability to attack the rim, get easy transition buckets by capitalizing off Mobley and Allen Forcing bad shots and turnovers, hit tough shots in isolation, break the defense with his first step, drive and kick, catch and shoot, and attack closeouts are skills most of the other guys don't have.

The team is playing faster and we know he can thrive doing that. I think the team is more suited to him than ever. He needed more time to fine his spots.

Yesterday, even before Rubio went down, was a perfect example of why we have to keep Sexton given the current roster. Without Garland there was no offensive threat to break down the defense, so New Orleans was able to play defense with few worries. Any opposing coach would gladly allow Rubio to put up 25-30 shots a game, that's not a formula that will win many games.

This is a good point. I would like to change my stance on Sexton after watching last night. I thought the best thing we could do is have him on a qualifying offer or get what we can from a sign and trade.

Now I'm more in the camp of let's sign him / match him up to a point to lock him up for 3-4 years. Even before Rubio went down, it was clear after about 25 minutes he was running out of gas (The airball three).

Unless we're moving him now in a simmmons-esque trade, I think it's best to keep him around. It's going to become even more clear when Mobley is our best ball-handler the next two games.

you can't let him walk for nothing. That's for sure. I also don't think you want him playing on a QO for the good of everyone involved.

Your post is dead. Sexton does not want your role. Trading him for a back up pg just became very important. With a higher draft pick, we can find his replacement in the draft cheap.

Not trying to be argumentative, but Sexton produced 24 PPG on 50/37/81 shooting last season. He’s arguably the best microwave scorer in the league if that’s what you want him to do as a bench guy. There is no “finding a replacement.” Hope is basically the strategy at that point.

Again, your point is dead. Sexton doesn't want to be 6th man. Once you understand that, you understand why his trade is nearing. You can absolutely find a replacement in the draft. As good??? Nope. But one that accepts and respects role??? Yes.

Are you Collin Sexton? Then you do not know this.

I think people discount how much of a workload Sexton can take off Garland and Rubio. The regular season is so long and takes a toll on guys. A good amount of playoff success is just how healthy a team is during the playoffs once a team hits a certain level.

Ideally the Cavs would hope Sexton would take the sixth man role but I think he is important enough that you take the concession if he wants to start to keep the ceiling of the team as high as possible. Him starting doesn't mean he has to play the bulk of his minutes with the starters. I would roll the dice on how that impacts Okoro when he is up for an extension or RFA. I think Okoro has a long way to go to before we need to be worried about what kind of offers he will get from other teams.

Horrible, horrible take. Most people would have to try really hard to come up with a take this awful, but you seem to come by it fairly naturally.

They announced at the game last night it was Collin's birthday, and he took off his mask to acknowledge all of the cheers. It was one of those heartwarming moments when you think there's hope yet for the human race.

Darius said it was good to have him back with the team. I was worried about how silent everyone was. Did the team want him back etc?

Why did he take his mask off?
