I can only speak for myself here, but I see Collin's work ethic and desire to make weaknesses strengths and I love him for it, and it's probably the number 1 reason I prefer him to Garland if we are seriously looking at splitting the two up.. and I also see Collin in year 3 as a starting G who handles a large bulk of the ballhandling and still misses the right play way more than I'd like him to.the exact same reason why i think guys who says "sexton doesn't rotate the ball" or "tunnel vision" will be proven wrong. there are several articles already about sexton's patience to watch game film. that is a discipline a lot of players don't have. i'm not going to be surprised if sexton develops into something like a chauncy billups play maker.
My HOPE is when he's watching the Denver game over and over, it's not just to figure out how to attack the defense w/the ball, but how to attack it without the ball so he can trust his teammates more.
"sexton doesn't rotate the ball" or "tunnel vision" are both legit concerns about his game now that we are in season 3 of him. We are staring at a huge bet on him "getting" that part of the game down. Likely this offseason they go to extend him, so this second half of the season, you really want to see Sexton swinging the ball in the offense, looking at the weakside of the offense when he penetrates, and shedding some of the tunnel vision he has played with.
In my mind, the only two weaknesses in his game is his defense and his court vision, which isn't surprising because those two items speak to a general feel for the game beyond what you are going to do with the ball. Good defense is effort and movement, great defense is effort, movement, anticipation and understanding. Good court vision is passing to the open man for the assist, great court vision is moving the ball in the offense and anticipating when a guy will become open off movement because you have great understanding of how the defense will react to you, to the cutter, and to the ball.
Anyway, I think Collin can figure both those things out to some level. His willingness to work on his own separates him from other prospects who may be more gifted.
