DG was holding his right hand and pretty obviously in discomfort for the last couple minutes of the first half. I think that combined with exhaustion and Mitchell coming in fresh with his defensive intensity is a pretty tough combo — still would have liked to see Garland overcome it.

I was just about post to see if people thought it was part of his endurance that caused this. To me he is trying to use his handles to get around Mitchell instead of trying to use his speed.

Why can’t Okoro do what Mitchell does?

Okoro is a pretty good defender but some guys just have "it" on defense like Mitchell and whatever galaxy level Thybulle becomes on some nights.

I thought we were all back to thinking Okoro is a good individual defender?

I'm sure Okoro could do that, there's just a perfect storm of factors that went into that possession...momentum changing, fresh legs vs. tired legs, and DG did himself no favors (making Davion look good) by trying to dribble his way out of it instead having a teammate to pass to which would have just made the highlight not exist.

There is no way that Okoro will ever be as good of a lockdown defender as Mitchell. Mitchell lateral quickness is out of this world. He just puts the clamps on anyone who tries to iso him.

You're right, I was more talking about the defensive intensity.

Agreed - I thought that GS messed up taking Kuminga instead of Mitchell.
Only time will tell. Kuminga is only 18 and has the higher ceiling, so we shall see.

I just hate the idea that we want iso dribble attacks to break pressure when all we need to do is pass the ball and reset to get out of that kind of pressure, maybe a screen or 2. Fuck iso basketball.

Garland needs to get it to Mobley when this happens
