Steph Curry had several 6,7 and 8 turnover playoff games in his first three series in the playoffs.

If you can’t handle watching the lumps and the growing pains, it’s going to be painful for you

4 of those in 25 games over Steph's first 3 series.

Garland is shitting the bed, consistently, in the 4th quarters of a close game.

That’s the entire point.

It takes growing pains and adversity to build composure and experience.

Curry, as great as he was was in his first two playoff series(years 4 and 5, aged 24 and 25), still had a lot of games where he was pressured and turned the ball over a lot.

Garland has yet to experience those playoff games.

Sorry, but this is what the vast majority of young guards without playoff experience go through. I’m not trying to excuse it or set the bar low but let’s also be real about the process and the historical precedents that exist

Steph got locked by an undrafted Aussie his first finals

I thought he would struggle until he gets a rhythm going, but this is a tough series for him. They’re physical like every playoff team and one bump and he loses the ball. Can’t run into the paint like Steve Nash in the playoffs

Garland’s attitude in the postgame press conference was kinda bad.

He gives off real frontrunner vibes, all happy go lucky, but only when we’re winning.
He's been like that all year but I didn't get that vibe in that particular press conference.

Seeing Garland play like a star in Game 2 was such a treat. His confidence was a massive shift, and it showed when he tried to get his first career poster dunk on Hartenstein. Obviously he didn't get it to go down but drew a foul and it led to Julius Randle bitch-slapping Brunson somehow and we are all thankful for that.

It felt really good to know Mitchell was barely shooting early on because he didn't need to. If things had gotten dicey late in the game you knew he'd have something in the tank.

The Knicks were focused on Mitchell after he burned them for 38 points in Game 1. He recognized that and dished out 13 assists, his highest total of the season. Before the game he also encouraged Garland to "be the All-Star that you are".

Mitchell deserves a lot credit for Garland's performance, although Darius was certainly outstanding.

When Mitchell, Garland, and LeVert are on the floor at the same time it seems the Cavs almost always can get a good shot.

Pretty wild to see his growth on defense.

Another year of experience, most sculpting, and positioning strategy and he could be a legit plus defender. He almost is one now.
His positioning, footwork, and hustle have all taken big strides

His feet are legit very good. He scoots right over screens and gets bumped, but recovers so fast it didn't get an advantage for Brunson or Quickly.

Watching him defend Barrett is so sweet. Man, that guy was taken over him! Barrett unable to take advantage is so so good. I just love it

Highest total of his career, in fact. Nice to have a player of that level who can just change his game that drastically depending on the situation. That's the greats - there aren't too many of those in the league.

But I came in here to say that Garland is only 23. He can get a LOT better and more consistent. I know he came into the league younger and it's already year 4, but he is as good as Curry was at age 23. And yes, Curry is both a developmental aberration and an all time great...but just showing how young 23 really is for that mold of player. His main comp for Cavs fans, Steve Nash, was also a late bloomer. Aside from Kyrie, these PGs that don't thrive off athleticism take a little longer to figure things out - for the game to really slow down for them.

(You could argue that Kyrie never figured out how to play winning basketball, however, if LeBron isn't around. Garland did so last year.)
