I wish he was a little more aggressive, I hope that is something that comes with experience. The guy has some serious talent.

He is becoming more and more aggressive.
I dont know what you mean by aggressiveness though.
My definition for aggressiveness in relation to Garland is confidence (ie: taking more 3pt shots, taking control over the game)
I don't even want him to try to be more aggressive say defending or attacking the basket recklessly. That will take time and should come naturally once his body becomes stronger and he feels more comfortable taking a hit. I don't think risking any sort of injury is just worth it at this point, and him not being that kind of aggressive fella does not mean he won't be in the future.

I just want to see him be more comfortable doing what he is great at on a high volume, and that seems to trend upwards. And I do notice an increase in FGA in the paint, and a higher conversion rate as well.

I also feel like Sexton is a big detriment to his game and overall confidence, as well as to lesser degree some of the vets. Once he feels he has the keys, I don't doubt it will show.

Wasn't really sold at Garland at first because the cavs drafted Sexton the year before. But he is slowly adjusting to the NBA. He is still physically over matched, the good thing is strength is easier to develop than say feel for the game. If his body catches up to the NBA's physicality, we might see a more confident Garland. Hoping that would be in the nearest of futures.

He has everything you want in a PG in today's NBA - shooting, vision, handle, sound IQ. He can create for others but also for himself - I love how can he use a screen to dribble into a high percentage 3 pointer. He's not afraid to take big shots either. I know he hasn't been finishing as well in the paint, but he seems to be getting better there and looked great in crunch time yesterday. Very excited about Garland. I figured that his slump after a solid start to the year was normal - the way rookies struggle with conditioning as they get used to the NBA grind and game frequency.

7 assists last night and easily could have been in the double digits if it were for fouls or missed open shots. He seems to be seeing the floor much better over the past several games. Minutes are up since the Clarkson trade too, which to me is probably the biggest benefit of that trade.
He definitely goes through stretches of the game where he is not providing much value offensively, but once he makes one big shot or pass it will snowball into several in a row. We saw an example of it last night when he had very nice passes on several plays in a row. He was in control and wanted the ball in his hands.

Yeah he is not aggressive enough to take the ball out of Sexton's hands. He is deferring to him right now.

I do agree he is getting more aggressive. He was not even really attempting shots in the paint initially and his first few interviews were like "these guys are big". He's not shying from the contact as much as the game slows down, he is getting a step on bigs guarding him on the perimeter.

He has cut out a lot of the lazy passing that was causing so many turnovers too, which is why Sexton started handling the ball more. Guys aren't as easily pressuring his dribble.

I saw him wave off Sexton at least once last night. That was good for him

Garland plays better with confidence. He still defers to Sexton but last night showed he waved him off a couple times which I liked. Also loved some of his continuous shots or passes in a row where he initiated with confidence as if he had the keys. He needs the keys. He will be even better plus he is only 19.

18/8/2stls

JB slowly giving Garland the keys. He handled the ball way more than usual.

He picked his spots and got his teammates open looks.

Came alive in the fourth quarter scoring six straight points to extend the lead.

Garland looks quicker too.

Yep. Night and day. Him speeding up and the game slowing down. I do wish he had hit some long 3s when the zone was on. Need someone to break the zone with their shooting

Garland's shot was short from 3 in the second half. He was dead tired playing in Denver. Nevertheless, he took it inside and made his shots...he could have lost his confidence, but didn't. Well done.
About 4 min to go I didn't think they could do it. Looked dead tired. They got another wind and Denver looked affected by the altitude.

Wild game. Cavs defense was good but hard to believe that good

Nuggets missed wide open looks

I was just thinking about how we haven't had a game where the other team just didn't have it. That was tonight.

They are the opposite of the Cavs. They don't play as well against sub 500 teams

They play down to their competition.
Garland looks quicker doesnt he?

Pretty good for a 19 year old pretty much straight out of high school who was declared a bust 4 weeks into the year by some of the guys that post daily on this site...
