Ya-2017 Kyrie was a beast though. Kyrie and Spida is a pretty potent duo. But ya- Garland is a better passer. However, I do think Kyrie was a little underrated as a distributor & Garland has kinda turned into a volume scorer this year as he is less of a floor general
versus last year...and he is shooting 43ish percent from field. But ya I still take Garland. I just hope we don't forget how good Kyrie was before he went batshit

I'd really like Garland to try to be the floor general, but I think DM and DG are best when they are both taking easy shots and playmaking when attacked defensively.

yup. exactly my thoughts. Kyrie was perfect for Bron.
Yup. And Bron was such a facilitator that he didn't need it as much in a running mate - which is unique for a Pantheon player. The only other best player in the NBA who would facilitate like LeBron was Magic, who I also think would have worked really well with Kyrie.

Honest question...Who would some of you prefer on this years team...Garland or 2017 Kyrie? I can't really decide.
Great question! Honest answer: Kyrie was better offensively, shooting, driving, and clutch situations. He averaged 25 ppg on almost 50% from the field in 2017, Darius is better at passing and running the team. He could average 50%, but hasn't shown the skill yet. Defensively, it's a push. In the locker room, I prefer Darius. With this team, I prefer Darius, especially considering Kyrie's injury history.

If you could guarantee me Kyrie would stay healthy for 5 years and wouldn't leave the team, I'd take him. But only under those conditions. So it's Darius in reality.

On this team, this year's Garland. Last year's Garland even more, as he seems like he's been a little not himself thus far this year, maybe growing pains with Mitchell. But Garland the teammate puts him over Kyrie for me, on such a deep team team with a lot of top tier talent. I think the ceiling is higher for this team with Garland there if he can fall into a Steve Nash kind of role where he starts to get his assists higher when the team is clicking.

I wouldn't replace 2017 Kyrie with Garland though - but it would be interesting to see how Lebron would elevate DG.
You'd see DG shooting like Steph: 8-10 fg per game from 3, hitting 40-50% of them. Lebron would know which shots were best for DG and would get him those shots in the positions he likes.

Kyrie far more talented. Garland is a rich man's boobie gibson with a far more grating personality.
We need a futuredome for every good Cavs player. I would have loved if we had one for LeBron all 11 of those years

I mean- Futuredomes 1st sentence here isnt wrong. I would agree Kyrie is more talented that Garland. Taller, better handle, better midrange, and more effective closing games. Garland is a better passer. I actually might even take Kyrie on defense as well simply due to size. Kyrie was actually a half assed decent defender when he was locked in.

Garland is the better player. He is way more portable. Kyrie is a better scorer but requires a very specific ecosystem to be successful. He was exactly what we needed in 2016 but in a vacuum its much easier to have success with Garlands kit. And you don't have to deal with the off court crap

Right. But 2017 Kyrie wasn't completely unhinged yet. I mean cmon...lets not discredit the convos we were having after the ring. Cavs fans were debating Kyrie being a potential future MVP candidate moving forward. I dont forget these things. His stock after "The Shot" was about twice as high as current Garland. I get what you are saying but pre-insanity Kyrie was a legend in the making. Somewhere along the line everything derailed in his career. 2017 Kyrie was a better player than Garland.

It depends what you mean by better. Imo current Garland is more conducive to winning games and rings than Kyrie was. Kyrie could not floor raise and was a situational ceiling raiser. We know Garland can floor raise. Ceiling is tbd but likely

No garland is a turnover machine when it matters. Not clutch.

He should basically be a spot up shooter down the stretches of games when Mitchell is out there. Simply put, bad things happen when he has the ball in his hands trying to close. We saw it a lot last year too and we made the excuse it was just tiring for him by the end of the game being the only playmaker. But now that it's continuing this year too and you see what Mitchell is able to do by comparison, it's so obvious that DG is just a very weak closer and his late game shooting percentages and turnovers are no fluke. He just does not handle the increased physicality and ball pressure well. Every time he drives I'm expecting him to turn it over or get swallowed up on his layup attempt. And defensively they attack him. Davion Mitchell is a terrible scorer and just bullied him to the hoop on a possession we needed a stop ridiculously easily with little resistance.

I agree. I think he should be a number two option late with Mitchell healthy. He should be catching the ball in space against a rotating defense.

Ideally Mobley becomes someone that can be trusted late in games to create offense as well.

Any team is in deep trouble if it’s small guard is both the primary facilitator and scorer late in games. We’ve seen that time and again with guys like Paul, Rose, Nash, etc.
