Deni Avdija Full "UNGUARDABLE" 2019/20 Highlights ● Welcome To Cleveland Cavaliers?!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Oh I definitely understand why he is an intriguing prospect because he can do it all and has great size.

I just don't see him doing all of it that well. If you can do it all but not do it well you are just Cedi Osman.

To be clear I am a garbage talent evaluator. Maybe I'm just not looking at the right videos.

Also I can't determine if he has a highly punchable face, or if he is handsome.

Both for sure.

Watch the Rockets working the Thunder in a playoff game.

Sure you want scorers and you want guards... but the Rockets are giving big minutes around their stars to PJ Tucker, Robert Covington, Jeff Green and Danuel House. Five small forwards who can defend the perimeter and paint, who can do a little bit of everything on offense.

In today's NBA, the point guard doesn't just run the offense, the shooting guard doesn't just shoot, power forwards don't just defend the paint, and centers don't just block shots and score in the post. Those days are gone.

Today's NBA wants five guys who are long, athletic, and can do it all. Devi is one of those small forwards... and he looks like he is going to be really solid at it. Instead of putting up advanced stats against Louisville and Virginia Tech in regular season games, he was winning MVP of a men's league at age 19 as a 6'9 jack of all trades.

That isn't run of the mill.

I hate to sound like the old get off my lawn guy (I'm not old I'm seasoned) but this is what my biggest problem is with advanced stats. I love advanced stats but more often than not they are used to sway your opinion away from what your eyes already saw. I don't need to see advanced stats to know that Deni is the most pro ready lottery pick in this draft. It's not even close but I'm sure there's some stats that will make me slow my role. I just don't care. I know what I see when I watch him. I know what I see when I watch the other prospects. I know what I see when I'm watching current players too.

It's actually not hard to know what a player is. Their strengths, tendencies, and weaknesses. Those are all easy things to pickup on a player. The hard part is the coaching and the culture. What is your culture like in your organization? On your team. Do you have the right coach for that culture? Do you have the players to make this culture work? This is why guys bounce around the league and wash out only for good coaches and good organizations to squeeze every ounce of talent and ability out of them. Right now we don't know what our culture is. We don't know if we have the right coach or what his philosophy is. We don't know if the current players fit any of that.

All we know right now is what's trending around the league. This is just my opinion but I believe that Deni and Wiseman are the only two lottery picks in this draft that you can plug into any starting lineup in the league right now and get production from them. I am absolutely confident about James Wiseman and his ability to play C in the league. I don't think there's a question on if he can do it. He can. I am just as confident at Deni's ability to slide into any current starting 5 right now. He's that versatile and he's already playing against grown dudes. The floor is there with both players but I can already see the advanced stats crowd boxing them in. It won't sway me though lol. I want one of them. I'd even entertain getting both if it meant getting real crazy.

Punchable face for me lol.

Time to start separating Cedi from every European wing prospect. They are all unique. Cedi was drafted at the top of the second round as a stash prospect who showed physical tools in the Euroleague at about 20 minutes a game as a teen.

Cavs fans got a little worked up in anticipation, but in the end he is limited on the defensive end and was put in the corner offensively pretty often. If you look at his European stats, he was a role player who has developed into an NBA role player. Poor guy shouldn't have been second on the team in minutes played, but they held rotation minutes for Windler.

Nobody is talking about Deni as a second rounder who gets stashed in Europe for two years.

Star?! Easy there, chief. The level of competition isn’t all that great.

First, I think the Bulls are likely taking him at #4. Second, it’s a little concerning that the most successful Israeli player in the NBA has been Omri Casspi. I know Avidja is part Serbian and he seems to be a pretty athletic guy, so his game should translate. Just how well remains to be seen.

Don’t start thinking he’s Luka Doncic cause he’s not. He reminds me of a cross between Toni Kukoc & Bojan Bogdanovich. He has similar handles to Kukoc and he’s like a slightly bigger Bogdanovic. His outside shot still needs work, but we can say that about seemingly every draft prospect.

He seems like a good passer and ball handler for his size but not particularly explosive. I'm not impressed with the level of competition in those highlights and I wasn't impressed with the uncontested right-handed dunks.

He seems to be at his best with the ball in his hands on a fast break but in that situation I want Garland or Sexton handling the ball.

I do still see Nic Batum; which is a very good thing as long as the motor runs hotter than the Frenchman's does...

If he is there at #5, Cavs should take him. His value as a 1-4 switching defender doesn't show up on a highlight reel.

I am an Okoro guy.. I think he is most likely to be a great wing in this draft.. i hope Windler becomes a Hayward, but hoping is not a great plan.

Lol, everyone seems to be on the Okoro train without really understanding his limitations.

I'm on record as not being on the Okoro train. Not. At. All.

I have no issues with members loving Okoro, but he shouldn't be a sure thing at 5 at all. He has clear limitations. I also don't think people have enough tape on him to really have a solid idea who he really is. I do think people love who Okoro pertains to be in their own mind.

Quick review of his limitations:
1.Doesn't have a quick first step, nor does he have high straight line speed or acceleration. Doesn't fill the lane like you hope he would.
2.While he is a good college finisher, doesn't seem to have great elevation jumping off two feet in a crowd. How will he look against NBA athletes?
3.Isn't quick defending screen action. Doesn't have the quickest of hands..not an elite disruptor and will not be a good shot blocker in the NBA.
4.bad shooter, opposing teams used to double Wiley/their center off of Okoro's side. form doesn't seem to be that bad, and his FT form isn't bad either though. could be a minus offensively. Should be until he shoots it well.
5.How tall is he? he hsa tree trunks for legs like Lebron and beefy, wide shoulders..but his reach and wingspan don't seem great.

Strengths:
1.Better passer than his stats suggest. Smart player.. makes the hockey assists and generally makes good decisions with the ball. Should look better with more on ball duties.
2.His rebounding numbers don't look great mainly because he used his strength to box out mainly to allow his teammates to rebound, He is plenty strong to box out and push centers under the basket to allow his teammates to rebound the ball. Probably the most switchable swingman in the draft.
3.Lock down 1 on 1 defender. Hips are super strong.. moves his feet with purpose and doesn't spaz out. Pofile may suggest he might be able to defend the bigger SFs in the league due to combination of size and iq.
4.College number suggest he is a good at the rim finisher, but i'm not sold on him being a great finisher against length. We will see.
5.Unselfish.
6.Seems to have high impact on his team according to the runs they make with him and without him watching the film.
7. Better ball handling and ability to attack than has shown, but doesn't have the explosiveness to create much separation..certainly when he lacks a shot. Comparison athletic wise? Jimmy Butler with some Jaylen Brown.

I like him, but I don't see him as a 5th best player. I also think we need to be maximizing our offensive potential, and surround our ball handlers with shooters...3&D types.

It's tough to gauge how good he can be, but he shouldn't blindly be your top pick. I don't think. He is closer to Laguentz Dort than he is to Kawhi.
