Deshaun Watson Soap Opera

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Baker was accused of cheating on his wife recently and as I recall no one really gave a shit.

I certainly didn't.
That's because the humor outweighed the immorality of it. A beejer from some beefy chick in a Cheesecake Factory parking lot? Not the first time Baker has scored a 6.

So serious question here...this masseuse was seeing clients at her house.

Is there any chance a female masseuse would have a camera in her house while seeing clients? It would seem pretty stupid not to.

This seems money-related and I have to imagine if there was an incriminating video it would have been sold to TMZ by now. Certainly the second after Watson declined the payoff.

To me, I think he saw $$$$$ and didn’t think about what the future could be. Shitty coach and FO was not new. Lack of picks, not new. Yet, he still had career numbers. The lack of talent and assets short term are not good and he’s quitting. There’s no incentive at all for the Texans to trade him. None. All the picks will probably be mid to late 1sts and they won’t have a QB.

Ignoring what happened since that extension, and ignoring why he's asked for a trade doesn't strike me as a good faith argument.

Neither is projecting that all picks will be "late 1sts" or that the Texans would no longer have a QB. That's just fallacy, and they just signed Tyrod Taylor for $12mm.

Seems like nearly all of this is making up Watson's motives, then making up excuses for why it doesn't make a great deal of sense for Houston to honor his request for a separation.

There is literally not single reason the Texans should and will trade Deshaun Watson.

He's under contract for the team.

There are multiple posts laying out the various reasons why a trade would make sense for both parties, not the least of which would be a former neighbor of the McNair's publicly lobbing evidence-free Instagram posts at him.

If you would like to comment on one of those, that might provide a bit more to the discussion.

Declining market value isn't a strong motive? Are you suggesting they just let him walk when his contract is up?

What exactly happened? We really don’t know and Watson hasnt actually said what happened?
Is he mad because he didn’t get to pick the GM or Coach? Who cares. Only two players in all of sports can I think of who have. Both the Goats. Brady and Lebron. Period.
Did Aaron Rodgers? No. Did Peyton Manning? No. Ben Roethlisberger? No. Eli Manning? No. Brees?? No. Cam Newton? No. Flacco? No. Russ Wilson? No. Mahomes? No. Dak? No.

Was he upset with the trade? Maybe, then why not ask to be traded last year when it happened. Why sign the extension.

The reasons for the turmoil in Houston have been public and have been posted on RCF before, in response to your previous posts about this topic in the Browns offseason thread. So... did you just not read them? Are you choosing to ignore them?

In case you're willing to watch a YouTube video, here's one of the best football analysts around, and a Texans fan, breaking down some of his feelings on the topic. The video is long, but he gets right into it at the beginning, and a lot of the video's length is about draft prospects and other things. It's seriously worth a watch if you're coming from a place of not knowing anything about the Texans' situation:

And here are the articles I've linked to you before:

Their former owner was viewed by many as a racist and caused problems. His kid is now in charge, and appears even more incompetent. Here's an article from SBNation about just one of Bob McNair's quotes:

The most eye-raising quote in the article came from Houston Texans owner Bob McNair, who reportedly derailed a discussion when he told other NFL owners that they “can’t have the inmates running the prison.”

Here is one interview with Deshaun Watson from September of 2020 where he expressed his feelings on some of these topics:

To keep it real with you, I feel like whenever a Black quarterback speaks up, the outside world sometimes doesn't think they're educated enough to know what's going on. So in reality, they're like, 'Hey, y'all Black quarterbacks -- shut up. Y'all don't know what y'all talking about.

This is an article from SI about the former chaplain who is now running the show in Houston:

Oh, and if you've gotten past all that, then yeah--there's also the fact that the Texans are a terrible franchise with no talent left on the roster and Watson just doesn't want to waste the rest of his career there. I'm not kidding when I say they're in worse shape than the Browns have been since they left. They're Isaiah Thomas-level Knicks bad right now.

Well, he's under contract until 2025... and even then can be franchise tagged.

In no situation should the Texans even consider moving on from one of the best 5 QB's in all of football.

That's fine then. Just let your 'franchise cornerstone' and culture-setter go through the motions at practice every day because he doesn't want to be there. Sets a good example for the team.

Stop siding with billionaire owners who will do everything they can to hold onto as much power as they can.

The Cal McNair's of the world want you the fan to hate what Deshaun Watson is doing. Cal McNair wants you to think that he's the real victim here and that he did nothing wrong.

Then he can be fined repeatedly, and sit and waste 5 years of his career.

He is an employee under contract.

If I’m the new Texans FO, and I have a team that lost 10 games with Watson, and I have little young talent to build with and no 1st rounder....trying to get 3 first rounders plus for Watson sounds like it could work.

If you read the details, her claims go beyond a request for a special massage or sex and involve physical contact. That and subsequent messages from Watson and other Texans would take this beyond verbal abuse and towards illegal activity. Its hard to understand how the Houston FO could benefit from the devaluation of their top asset, trade demands or not. Time will tell, but nothing good will come from this for Watson or the Texans.

It’s BS. If he thought or even knew his owner was or could be a racist, why sign the extension?
If he didn’t like or trust some of the people in the FO or organization, why sign the extension.
I’m also tired of color being the center of everything. The Black QB is looked at as being uneducated and blah, blah, blah.
1. Not true. 2. He went to Clemson. 3. He took as much money as he could get. That makes him educated IMO, but he’s also an idiot. He’s an idiot for thinking a team will give him his signing bonus for only one year of service and then take a $20+ million cap hit the following year for basically nothing.
