Do you re-sign Andre Drummond? How much?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think the Cavs will try to sign him and if they determine his asking price is too rich for their blood, they may very well trade Drummond. If they do, they’d ideally get back a young center, like Myles Turner.

Either way,I think we need to get a young center or power forward in next year's draft.

Drummond is not a good fit in Cleveland. He only muddies up the rebuild. Trade him at the deadline.

Drummond to Dallas in a sign and trade for Tim Hardaway Jr’s and James Johnson’s expiring contracts and a 1st round pick.

Detroit couldn't get anything for Drummond. Why the hell would we get anything close to Myles Turner or Tim Hardaway Jr and a 1st round pick? LOL come on

I think Drummond got a bad rap in Detroit. That team’s struggles certainly weren’t all his fault. Pistons brass tried to build a team with guys like Reggie Jackson, KCP, Blake Griffin, Stanley Johnson, & Drummond. Not a single one of those guys is a franchise player. There’s a reason there is a new GM in Detroit.

I see Drummond as a Clint Capela type of center. You don’t build a team around him, but he’s a real nice accent piece. He’ll play his role, which is to rebound & defend.

The bolded has yet to happen consistentally in his career.

I think it will depend on the team performance. If we out perform expectations we might sign Andre if for nothing more than future trade piece. If we consider the numbers there are few centers in his performance class. His main problem has been sloppy play and self centered decisions on a perennial losing team. He has the skills to move the needle but has never been consistent at using them. I think we would shop him first and determine his value then make him a offer along those lines. If the team underperforms I think they adjust that strategy and either move him or let him walk.

Traded before opening night is right now. I don't think that happens.

I think Drummond has potential value on two fronts.

1-to a team like Dallas or Boston that could use a big but want to test him out first...or

2-to a team that wants to shed a longer contract to gain flexibility this summer with one of the better free agent classes in recent memory.

These options weren't around last year when he was shopped.

Not to mention, he can help a team, especially a poor rebounding team. An expiring that can help is better than a pure salary expiring. Everyone knew he was opting into 28M this year.

From Kelsey Russo:

The coaching staff plans to use the preseason to experiment with different lineups, rotations and minutes. It’s why they wanted all four preseason games: to give the players game reps they missed because of the extended layoff. They wanted time to evaluate.

I can't see any way they give a player who they expect to trade in the next couple of weeks playing time in exhibition games. If Drummond is to be traded before the season starts it would have to be in the next day or two.
