Do you re-sign Andre Drummond? How much?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The problem? No.

I do believe he has put up a lot of unimpactful numbers in his career thus far, but I don't think he's a cancer or anything.

I think there is a lot of talk on this forum right now about him being what fans want him to be and believe he can be, but that doesn't mean he's shown it thus far. To this point, he's never shown the ability to make a large difference in winning basketball games. *should* he be able to be a defensive anchor? Yes.

He's got the physical talent and size, but his motor has often been an issue, and I don't think he plays anywhere near to within his limitations.

All of that said, he's made multiple all-star games for reasons, and he is capable of leaving his large footprint on games. I believe he could be one of the better players on a really good team if he plays focused and within himself.
Unimpactful? The guy has led the league in rebounding 2 out of the last three years. Was in the top five in blocked shots! I think Dre gets a bad rep for playing on terrible Piston teams. PLUS in my years of playing and coaching the game no big man wants to be told “stay out of the way and just rebound”! Every big man wants to be involved in the offense and wants touches as well! This is best center the Cavs have had since Z and we use him accordingly.

Game 1 preseason thoughts: he deserves the max.

The way he took it to Sabonis and Turner, best Cavs center since this guy:

How many years have you coached and played in the NBA?

Just curious.

ETA: Also, Tristan Thompson.

I don’t care if he rebounds, his lack of effort and sloppy play gives me migraines.

I agree. Drummond gets something of a bad rap, but he just puts up numbers. He’s a big dude who gobbles up rebounds. He can flash at times and make tough plays look easy, leaving people wanting more. Make no mistake, his motor doesn’t rev like some guys, he’s probably not diving on the court for loose balls, and he can look lazy or lackadaisical. It’s his smooth play, calm demeanor, and lack of urgency that drives people nuts. Drummond is your typical gentle giant.

He can play his role on a winning squad. He’s just not a guy you want to count on too much offensively. I’d put his value around that of Clint Capela. Even if Drummond doesn’t play with the same type of suddenness that Capela does, it doesn’t negate his impact.

JaVale McGee plays harder and can make arguably more of an impact, on both ends of the floor. However, he’s not as durable and he’s not the space eater that Drummond is, which is why he’s better off the bench.

Drummond has trouble seeing how he fits in a team. I hope he builds some actual chemistry because it looked like he was playing a different game from his teammates at times similar to Sexton playing 1 on 5 earlier in his career.

But that's the entire problem with Drummond. The teams for which he plays have understood that very well. The problem has always been that Drummond won't accept that.

Trade at deadline.

Draft Mobley.

Continue the youth movement.

If he truly won’t accept his role then he will have a problem with any team that he plays for. Let’s see how this plays out.

He looked completely disinterested to me. Maybe it's just the preseason, but I have a bad feeling about his fit on this team.

I'll take a 23 first for the double draft too

double draft is 22 i'm pretty sure. But yeah, a late first in '21 or '22 (I don't believe we will get it? maybe from a contender that sustained some injuries to their big man?).
